The restaurant was located in the lovely cobbled streets of Alkmaar - parking close was an issue, but there was a multi-story a short stroll away. The restaurant was quite busy (probably worth booking at peak periods). The food was very tasty (although the portions were typically quite small). The wine list was excellent.Overall, the cost was appropriate with the quality of the food.Would go back.

The place looks nice, nice interior and setting on the canal. Also very friendly staff. You need to wait an hour and 10' before you get your starter. The food was terrible. My Peking duck came without plum sauce and was extremely salty and the chicken tajine was just a chemical ready meal just warmed up in the microwave and again very salty. And they serve chips with mayonnaise with everything which shows the level of the place...All of this for around â¬50 pp. The toilets were disgusting, see picture enclosed just as the terrace, full with cigarettes buts. To be avoided.

A very nice place to go out for drinks and eat tasty food. You can even eat outside because they have heaters. I like the concept of small portions so you can choose mode than one and have a great diversity of tastes.

A new weekend in Alkmaar And a new disappointment for dinner. This is a restaurant where the food portions are very small. Here it's all about the image of the place But the substance is very small. The staff is nice but confused. The prices are very high. The only beautiful thing about the evening was my girlfriend,

We visited here last weekend and had a late lunch snack. Managed to get a table with a view over the canal and spent a delightful hour drinking Affligem Blond from the tap and eating a platter of olives, old cheese, chorizo, walnuts and a selection of warm deep fried Dutch nibbles. Really enjoyed it. The staff were all really friendly, in spite of it being busy.

Some would call it old-world charm, I would say old-fashioned. No surprises in the menu, clearly designed to serve a larger group. Not very well cooked either. Fish sauce too heavy and fat. Meat overcooked. Decent wines to pair the food.

If you are up for it go for the surprise menu. Really nice dishes. A small, cosy and quite environment. Unfortunately not always to crowded, especially if you come later (after 7pm) in the evening you will end up being the last guest soon (after 10pm).

This restaurant is slightly at the edge of the historic centre, meaning removed from the tourist crowds. The staff was welcoming and very accommodating. We started with drinks (great beer from the island of Texel) and they prepared us a special cheese platter. We then had a variety of dishes, including a juicy and excellently prepared sirloin steak. The atmosphere is nice and quiet, and we left the hotel after digestives in a very good mood.
