Very friendly and special place for the most delicieus chocolates, bonbons, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cakes, apple pie, artisan icecream, gifts, art en more.....!In the beautiful village of Zaandijk, opposite of the Zaanse Schans. Take a break and relax
Visited this place before taking the train to Amsterdam from Zaanse Schaans, and it is well worth the slight detour. The owner is very friendly and chatty, showing us maps of the area and telling us its history. The hot chocolates are basically warm milk whipped and with a scoop of high quality chocolate buttons ( dark, milk or white, your choice) added and stirred. Absolutely delicious! There are also lots of different chocolates, artisan individuals to bars, buttons, florentines and everything else in between, all delicious and all too tempting. Something for everyone's budget.Whilst we were there, we were joined by a group of 4 french/german ladies, and we all started chatting, together and with the owner, during which time the merits of various chocolates and regions were discussed - and the owner giving us all samples of several different types of the same depth of chocolate - and for 2 that did not like dark chocolate, she gave a dish of milk chocolate to try too! A delightful afternoon (and unexpectedly, we bumped into the ladies the next day in amsterdam central too! - If you read this ladies, please get in touch).Well worth a visit.

Nice little restaurant wich got our hopes up for good service and food. Ordered pea soup and toast. The peasoup was thick like baby-food and could only eat three spoons before i got nauseous. And toast was boring and soooo dry! My boyfriend ordered the toast with Amsterdam-sausage. Maybe its supposed to be that way but it was raw and he did not dare to eat it. So embarrasing to not beeing able to eat their food, but when we said we did not like it, they just said «thats how they make it». Worst breakfast of my life (so far).

Italiaans Ijs, Meer Als 30 Smaken. Geschikt Voor Vegetariërs, Veganistische Opties, Glutenvrije Opties
We thoroughly enjoyed our ice cream cones here. A single scoop cone was just 1.25! lots of flavors to choose from. There is room to sit inside, or there are picnic tables outside, across the street by the river.

Daily opened lunch restaurant with authentic en homemade food. We serve the best coffee and we serve you with a smile.
This little eatery is a short walk on the other side of the bridge from Zaanse Schanse windmills. We decided to stop because of the bubble waffles on the menu posted by the doors. Boy, were we disappointed. The bubble waffle was not freshly made. We saw the cook take the pre-made bubble waffle out of the refrigerator and reheat it in the oven. Bubble waffle, two lattes, and still water totaled â¬22.90. Not a good value for pre-made bubble waffle. Cash only, does not accept American Express. The only positives are clean bathrooms and free wifi.

We have small bites and typical Dutch food like the bitterbal, meatbal, peasoup, musterdsoep and hutspot. We also have baquettes and warm meals. We have local beers from draft and bottle. We accept Visa and Mastercard.
After visiting the windmills we have decided to relax and have some beer with snacks. On the way to the railway station we found this nice pub and we really liked it. We took Lentebock beer and some snacks (we liked mostly cheesesoufles and cheesefingers). The stuff is excellent. The Wi-Fi didn't work but the guy in the pub has fixed it for us. It was a pleasant stay there. The place is strongly ecommended for visiting.

Castell is hands down the best steak house in Amsterdam. Okay, so you might find a better place, but only if you are willing to pay three times more. I am a bit conflicted to write a review, as I fear that I would have to wait to get a seat in the restaurant. Their tenderloin steak is incredible, and this is ONE place in Amsterdam where they will actually cook how you order. No medium well steak if you order medium rare. You will actually get medium rare. The white asparagus, while in season, is also a must, with the ham and the special sauce that comes with the dish.Normally, the tenderloin or 'Surf & Turf', with fries and the wine that the owner recommends will do wonders to the culinary experience. The steaks are very tender and flavorful - rarity except in the most premium restaurants. The services are also great, and ambiance of the restaurant is also cozy and elegant. Outdoor sitting is available during summer. Parking is a bit of a pain, as the only parking I'd been able to find is the paid lot across the street. But, worth the pain and the drive, as this is one of the best steak you will find in Amsterdam.

Every time I visit Zaandam I come here . Nice historic atmosphere. Typically good food.Very limited bar unless you like beer. WaitressSaid âDutch drink beerâ.... you can forget a Manhattan They always had wonderful classic onion soup. Tonight they changed the receipt. Heavy tomato flavoring. Simply horrible. Mentioned it to two servers and manager : they laughed it off. I guessDutch donât complain about crappy soup.

Came here with big group for lunch. Place is big and can house a lot of people. Food was excellent, I loved the cod fish, but service is slow. The restaurant is located in a famous attraction in Zaandam. Although service is slow, but to me, it was worth the wait.

Hoop Brewery is located in historic Zaandijk, near Zaanse Schans. This is one of the most beautiful and historic areas of the Netherlands close to Amsterdam. Zaandijk Zaanse Schans train station is only a 15-minute walk (train connection between Amsterdam
Husband and I stayed 5 nights in Zaandijk Zaanse Schanz just about a 10 minute walk from this place (early December). We ended up having dinner here twice in the 5 nights because we liked it so much. Hubby is a craft beer enthusiast and home-brewer. I love good food. It was a perfect match at Hoop! The service was always VERY good, although the place was never more than 4-5 tables full. Overall a very chill, peaceful vibe. Certainly family friendly and not for a party scene (thank you, Jesus!). We had the salad of the month both times because it was SO delicious. Had the fish and chips, and the cheese burger with fries. Both really outstanding. The best was the mustard soup, which sounds pretty awful since I don't care for mustard (hubby loves it), but I'm glad I tried it because it, too, was outstanding. I even emailed the brewery after returning from to the States to get the recipe and they kindly obliged. Truly wish this place existed here near us because I think we'd be going once a week! Thank you, Brouwerij Hoop, for two excellent visits!
