Mostly jutting northward from its largest city of Amsterdam and its capital of Haarlem, the Noord-Holland region has much more to offer beyond those two wonderful cities. At Muiden is the magnificent Muiderslot Castle, as if it stepped out of a fairy tale. Showing more wear but no less interesting is Brederode Castle at Santpoort. At Zaanstad is Zaanse Schans, one of Holland’s top tourist destinations and a family-friendly open air museum of windmills, traditional buildings, crafts and shops.

Elegance, tradition and hospitality are the core traits of one of Amsterdam’s finest restaurants, de Silveren Spiegel (the Silver Mirror). The restaurant dates from the Dutch Golden Age, the 17th century, so you can experience the ambiance of this time period. Breathtaking surroundings and a lovely diner. Private rooms for special occasions, parties or business meetings available.

AT THIS MOMENT THE RESTAURANT IS CLOSED FOR EXTENDED RENOVATIONS.
WE ARE HAPPY TO WELCOME YOU AGAIN IN THE SPRING OF 2017.
A bitterly cold night in Amsterdam we found a warm and welcoming restaurant full of character. The decor is simple and elegant and the building is left to speak for itself. We chose the five course tasting menu at €62.50 (another €40 euros for the five glass wine flight which we didn’t take). Young chef JimVan Der Hoff has produced an imaginative menu full of wonderful flavour combinations using the best local produce. It was difficult to pick a stand out course as each was equally inventive and flavoursome but the scallop in champagne sauce with cauliflower and the local dry aged sirloin steak were outstanding as was the dessert which featured blood orange and mocha flavours. I hope the first Michelin Star is not far away.

One of Amsterdam's most remarkable restaurants, situated on the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam, the Ciel Bleu Restaurant has been awarded two Michelin stars and, much like the adjacent Twenty Third Bar, offers a stunning panoramic view of Amsterdam's city centre. This breathtaking vista and the luxurious design, together with the personal hospitality, all combine to create a unique atmosphere. The Ciel Bleu Restaurant's ambitious kitchen staff serve an international cuisine, prepared with seasonal products and characterised by its innovation. The Sommelier's professionalism and close cooperation with Executive Chef and Manager Onno Kokmeijer results in a perfect harmony between wine and food. The Ciel Bleu Restaurant also offers three luxurious private areas: the Starlight Room, the Salon Panoramique, and the Chef's Table in the restaurant's kitchen.
Impeccable service, delicious food with a perfect wine harmonization, beautiful view of the city, unforgettable gastronomic experience. It’s a real two stars Michelin! And more, you guys deserve the third one!
Really worth it came from Brasil and visit you guys.
Muito obrigada! Dank u wel!

Dine in style overlooking the Amstel river at restaurant La Rive. Culinary excellence and extraordinary hospitality makes restaurant La Rive a class of its own.
Under the inspired culinary leadership of Chef de Cuisine Roger Rassin, Maitre Ronald Opten and Sommelier Ted Bunnik, every guest is assured of a culinary experience. La Rive is a member of the culinary restaurant association Alliance Gastronomique. The exceptional wine expertise of our three sommeliers in combination with the creativity of our kitchen contribute to a unique and unforgettable dining experience.
What a positive surprise! While I expected an old fashioned, stuffy mediocre restaurant (certainly after the loss of their Michelin star more than a year ago) the opposite was true: the different dishes were of the highest quality, the food refined and traditional and the presentation perfect. Add to that the good service, nice setting and the high-energy, knowledgeable and entertaining sommelier and you have a winner ...
Tip: reserve a table at the window overlooking the canals!

Royal Indonesian Rijsttafels and Candlelight Dinner Cruises for food connoisseurs and business groups of up to 200 guests.
Our group found the quality and flavour of the food outstanding. The service was also excellent - attentive, polite and everything was clearly explained.
We chose their traditional ( non vegetarian ) menu option with the additional wine pairing.
They were keen to ascertain any allergies or special requirements and were happy to tailor the menu if required. This was not necessary for our group.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed every course ( some were quite spicy ) but none of us found them too much. Every course was very nicely presented and explained in detail upon serving. The wines were all excellent, described well and complimented each course perfectly ( a range of reds and whites ).
It is a fairly small, unassuming little restaurant that you could easily walk past without noticing. We were a group of 5 men and were sat on a table for 4 with a chair at the end. We were prepared for it being a little cramped, but we all found no issue with space. The interior decor is fairly plain and it seemed quite an unpretentious little restaurant. Music was not too loud and there were a mixture of couples and groups, some dressed very casually and some very well dressed. We were in fact 20 minutes late for our booking ( due to flight delays out of the UK on the Friday night we visited) but I called in advance and they were extremely polite and it was no problem.
I had initially tried to book via Trip Advisor but their booking system for the Blue Pepper refused to allow a booking for 5 people for some reason!
I was worried that it would be impossible to book for our group, so instead I went direct to their website and booked through their online form with no problems. Response was very swift via email and when I asked a couple of questions these were also responded to quickly. They did ask for a deposit of 125 Euros which seemed reasonable and this was paid via their online booking system using a credit card. When the bill was presented at the end of the meal, I did ask if the deposit was already taken off and they apologised as it was not, but very quickly sorted that with no fuss.
They also offer a Canal Dinner cruise which I would definitely try if travelling as a couple.
Very highly recommended.

Very small very cosy and very delicious treat for my wifes 40th birthday. Enjoyed everything we ate and drank. Reasonably priced. Booking essential. I had scallops to start and venison main. Fabulous. My wife had scallops and sea bass. Same review. Pre-drinks and a bottle of prosecco. €113 in total. A treat for us but, well worth it. The service matched the food. Top notch. Thank you

Within strolling distance from Theatre Carré there is the stage of Hans Verbeek and Igor Sens, the two culinary artists from restaurant Utrechtsedwarstafel. Their performance is a ballet of wine and food. Indulge yourself with the culinary compositions by Igor the Chef and the wines of Sommelier Hans. An adventurous evening awaits. The concept of Utrechtsedwarstafel is straightforward and easily explained. Igor purchases the freshest produce of the season and subsequently composes fine delicate dishes for a multiple course menu. Just mention the number of courses you wish to eat.For every menu Hans creates the perfect wine arrangement. Every course is accompanied by the right match of wine. However, the arrangements vary with respect to the complexity and quality. The bare essence of Utrechtsedwarstafel is that every course is a fertile marriage of wine and food. Its fruits bear your palate a sheer joy.
Where to begin?
After hours of researching places to eat, my mrs began to plan a trip to this extraordinary restaurant upon Reading its unique secret menu with wine pairing.
Flying from England to Amsterdam for my birthday was the perfect opportunity to try it out! The restaurant is ran to perfection, with a lovely atmosphere from staff and customers. You are never without a glass of the indulgent wine, to compliment each course. Every glass was explained in depth the history of the wine, with a full description of the dish served alongside. Hans (sommelier) and Igor (chef) are combined geniuses. Hans has such passion when telling you about the wine and food that you are served. Each course was perfect, from portion to flavour. Thank you for an amazing experience! Hope to see you again in the not to distant future!

Vinkeles is housed in an old bakery; which was set up in 1787 by the Regents of the Catholic Church, who at the time owned the building. The bakery flourished until 1811 and guests still can see the original ovens, which were discovered intact during restoration work.Echoing the décor of the hotel, Executive Chef Dennis Kuipers’ menu combines the traditional and the modern. The dishes served in Vinkeles show Kuipers’ love of the contemporary French cuisine. He combines the freshest ingredients to produce a menu that is delicious and unique to Vinkeles. In 2009 restaurant Vinkeles was awarded a Michelin star.
Having had the pleasure of an exceptional meal in Vinkeles in the Dylan Hotel in September 2017, we decided to return to Amsterdam for another fine meal.
Everything was flawless Casper the charming and highly talented Restaurant Manager runs a very smooth and personalised service with real attention to every detail. Every course of our tasting menu was perfection. Vegetarian and non vegetarian equally creative and superb.
Really good to be back Cannot recommend highly enough. Amsterdam’s finest They deserve a second Michelin star!

PIQNIQ: for your breakfast, lunch & high tea in the Jordaan area in Amsterdam PIQNIQ as in picnic? Yes, something like that. PIQNIQ is derived from the French word for picnic; pique a nique. Pique means 'choose or pick something' while nique stands for 'a litlle something' means. So PIQNIQ refers to a variety of small dishes of which you can choose from, just like a picnic in the country. At PIQNIQ you are invited to choose from our variety of small sweet & savory dishes and enjoying them in our nice natural restaurant in a typical golden age Amsterdam surrounding while looking at the life on the street, Reading a newspaper/magazine/book or take pleasure in a conversation with your table companion(s).At PIQNIQ we serve breakfast, lunch, coffee and tea with sweet bites, fresh juices, smoothies, a quality glass of wine and cold beers. You can also order for a special treat at the office or to take with you to the park or on your boat tour. Take a look at our website for the different possibilities and the menu. We are open daily from 09.00 am. till 05:30 pm.
I was recommended this place before coming to Amsterdam and how pleased I was to come here. Despite a small queue we were seated inside 10 minuets we had 4 items for €12, each was a delight from the pumpkin soup through the curry chicken quiche to the salmon roll and pulled chicken foccacia Sandwich all served in 'small' portions which are plenty big enough in fact 2 or 3 items would be ample. Will come here again when next inn Amsterdam.

Fabulous meal. No menu ( just blackboard), no prices, no wine list. The owner describes what is available and chooses a wine to suit your preference. 3+ courses plus a glass of wine for $47 euro (ex tip).
I recommend it all but especially the cauliflower risotto ( which isn't a rice risotto ).
