Stopped for coffee & a snack after visiting the nearby Barton Garnet Mine, and was thoroughly delighted. Sandwiches, soup, specialty coffees, baked goods made on the spot. Comfortable indoor seating available, with a few vintage tin kitchen tables, and a cozy couch & coffee table area. Outdoor cafe seating available on front porch, with view of beautiful community mosaic project across the street. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the neighborhood!

Everything about barVino was excellent! The food was delicious and extremely flavorful. The small plates filled us up, but we continued eating because the food was so good. They have an excellent wine selection along with a great beer menu as well. The waitress was friendly, attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the wine menu. I even got an "owler" to take home! Excellent All Around!

Reopened in Dec 2009
After driving by this restaurant many times we decided to try it, we are glad we did and are going back. For starters we had Grilled Shrimp and Endive salads, both were excellent. For our entrees we had Grilled Pork Tenderloin(Citrus Maple Sweet Potato Mash, Mango Papaya Salsa, Fresh Vegetables) and Seafood Stew(Shrimp, Scallops, Mussels in a Spicy Coconut Milk Broth with Sweet Corn, Plantains, Garden Greens) both meals were outstanding. Our waitress was as good as it gets and our host was very gracious.

We are a full service restaurant and bar located in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. We offer American cuisine featuring steaks, seafood, lots of appetizers and the best burgers!
We had dinner here on New Year's Eve. The service was OK at our table but other people from our group complained that it was slow. The food was good and the live band was OK-ish.

Trappers Tavern is an Adirondack style gastropub featuring hearty fare and stellar entrees. A unique feature of the decor of the tavern is a large Moose Head shot by President Teddy Roosevelt in the 1880’s above the fireplace.
The moosehead on the wall (Bullwinkle) is a wee bit disarming (Teddy Roosevelt brought it in) but the food more than makes up for it.
It's end of season for them (they close for a few weeks right about now -- mid November into December) so they were out of a couple of things. We ended up having a Caesar salad; a wedge (perfectly crisp bacon and nice amount of blue cheese); then sharing the roasted veg panini. Since we'd polished off a bottle of wine before dining, no alcohol so the check was only 32.00 for two people before tip. Yes, we'd come back. Next time, though, cocktails first. Homey room; comfortable surroundings; and 4 tvs with 4 different games. What could be better?

becks TAVERN is your newest Adirondack restaurant and bar located two minutes from both the lifts at Gore Mountain and the Hudson River. We offer the convenience of a German inspired alpine cuisine beneath the majestic pines of the Adirondacks. We look forward to becoming your new favorite restaurant in the Adirondack Northwoods!
Went to Becks for my second visit. Ordered a Tito’s martini up with a twist - out came a martini glass full of ice and sweet vermouth and some vodka. I sent that back and then came back a glass of vodka with sweet vermouth. My friends ordered Dewars only to be informed that there was no Dewars. I asked politely if they would take my drink and just put vodka in the shaker, shake it up and pour it into a glass - I WAS TEACHING THE BARTENDER HOW TO MAKE A FREAKING MARTINI! The waitress was kind but scattered. When the food came it was excellent - mine was a little on the cold side, but the Sauerbrauten was stunning. Others at the table remarked that the food was great. I live up here year round and I want this restaurant to make it but the service and bar really annoyed us and will keep one of our party from coming back. PLEASE get your service and bar tender up to par - it is a long winter and we are you customers and we have to drive 30 minutes to you which we will if the whole experience is great. Tonight was just average although everyone tried. Whoever is your bartender who doesn’t know how to make a martini...well you need to rethink that staffing position.

First off, we came at 2:30 when they closed at 3:00. For the record, we are not those type of people but we were unsure of the times since we are only once a year visitors to this town and had never been here before. But they happily took us in after trying another place a short walk away at 2:25 who sent us away.
All that said, we were greeted with a friendly waitress, good service and very good food. We ordered winners for sure. The tuna melt and the Turkey club sandwich were great. The homemade cole slaw is very good and has a little spicy bite to it. The fries are the droopy kind (as opposed to the ones that stick out straight) but quite tasty nevertheless. The ambiance is just what it stipulates...a little country cafe reminiscent of a small, friendly restaurant one might find in the deeper southern states. I recommend stopping by for a satisfying lunch.

Our Ski Club spent the weekend @ the Black Mountain Lodge. The Black Mountain Restaurant is located in the center of the Lodge. All 40 of club members ate/drank here as we had no transportation. Everyone was pleased with the experience! The bar offers 22 crafts beers! The menu offers a good selection of appetizers, sandwiches & dinners. We had the wings, the Delmonico steak, Buffalo dip & BBQ sandwich. Live entertainment on Saturday night! Beautiful fireplace. Very Clean. Check hours of operation. Opened 4 PM on Sunday. Check menu addition on the Specials sheet. Beers listed on black board. They also prepared box lunches for our group.
