Unique Bistro on Roanoke Island, NC focusing on Handcrafted Sandwiches, Home Made Pimento Cheese, & Craft Beer
Why has no one thought of this before? A restaurant dedicated to Pimento Cheese!!!! It's the best idea I've heard in forever! Far Out Cafe offers classic menu items that include pimento cheese - sandwiches, sliders, pizzas, wraps, quesadillas, etc. and they have an array of pimento cheese flavors including a 'pimento cheese of the months flavor (this month its buffalo chicken pimento cheese). But there is so much more here. Creative shakes (Peanut Butter and Jelly and Birthday Cake are 2 examples), salads, other entrees for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is super cozy too with an upstairs that's really fun. The staff is friendly too and very accommodating. Enjoy when you go and you'll add this spot to your restaurant rotation!

Group of 8 enjoyed lunch on Saturday at the Full Moon Café & Brewery. The nachos were huge and delicious. The hunter wrap was small and just okay but the gatherer wrap was large and full of veggies. Crab soup was excellent and the mahi mahi was terrific. Daniel did a great job taking our order and serving the food without writing it down...very impressive.

Enjoy lunch overlooking Manteoâs Main Street from the Pub or enjoy the sound views and boardwalk from the waterfront dining room and porch.
I wanted to have lunch on the water and this was the spot. The Wednesday special was corned beef and pastrami on a grilled flatbread with lettuce, tomatoes and spicy mustard with a side of potato salad. All very good with a nice breeze.

Been hearing about this place for a few years and from a number of people and was disappointed. So, could just be me but the others with me are less inclined to go back than I am. Some positives...nice outdoor space which is dog friendly. They sort of take reservations- didn't quite get the system and we didn't need them but avoiding a long wait is a plus for sure. It's much larger inside than you might think. Hostesses were friendly on arrival.Let the griping begin...No chips and salsa served while waiting for our food was an expectation of our group (not so much me) but would have certainly been appreciated. Waited quite a while for our food- our waiter was apologetic though. It seemed a bit odd as the restaurant wasn't that crowded although there was one large party. It was a couple weeks ago but I couldn't recall without looking at the menu what I ate which is unusual for me. I had the Wasabi Shrimp Tacos- decent flavor, although not as strong as I expected. It was definitely light fare, though 3 tacos there wasn't much in there nor on the plate. (rice, beans and slaw) My wife had tacos as well, pretty boring so we asked for a side of Guac. Kinda too chunky to put on the tacos. They came with fried flavored flour tortillas which I thought was different. Seeing on the menu now that corn chips were an alternative- waiter probably should have clarified our options as we didn't have menus at that point. She came away kinda hungry too. The other couple had two of the specials- they're not usually too picky but were not over impressed either. We all commented later that the food wasn't very hot (temperature wise). Our young waiter was friendly enough, probably closer to benign neglect than overbearing which I'd prefer personally. All in all just, ok.

Upon entering the restaurant we were immediately welcomed with a big smile and offered prime seating on the porch overlooking the marina. The restaurant is big and open with modern, minimalist decor; very tasteful and comfortable. Our server was friendly and efficient, describing the specials and making helpful suggestions. She kept our coffee hot and water glasses full. I had the maple fried chicken with smashed potatoes and fancy green beans. My husband had the red drum with the same sides. We shared a pear gorgonzola salad. All was fresh, tasty, and well presented. We would gladly return. This was the view from our table outside.

Striper's is in a beautiful location overlooking Shallowbag Bay and so it's an enjoyable spot for a meal. Also the menu is a crowd pleaser and there is something for everyone on the menu. I like to go to Striper's when we have a spread of ages for the meal, and also when you want to have a good visit over a meal. It's not a noisy restaurant and so you can talk and relax. The food is good and the menu is creative. Enjoy!
