Boardwalk Billy's Raw Bar & Ribs Crown Point

We decided on Boardwalk Billy’s in Matthews for dinner tonight since it’s been quite a while since we’ve eaten there. They weren’t super busy yet, so we were seated immediately and just as quickly, our server came to take our drink orders. I noticed that the sanitation grade is 98.5; that’s great in my book! After looking over the menu for a minute or two, our server came back to take our orders. My husband got the wings and I got the crab cake dinner with hushpuppies. We didn’t have to wait very long at all for our food to come out. My hush puppies came piping hot with a homemade honey butter that was to die for! I immediately tried the butter by dipping the hot hush puppy into the smooth, creamy butter. The hot hush puppy with that sweet honey butter melting over the it…Oh. My. Gosh. I couldn’t get enough of that sweet, creamy flavor, and wish now I’d spread some over my crab cakes! Just thinking about it now makes me close my eyes and go “mmmmmm”.The crab cakes were good and are always my go to, but the rémoulade had a little too much horseradish for my taste tonight. My husband liked his wings and the bleu cheese dressing, as always, had huge chunks of bleu cheese in it. I love to scoop some of those big pieces of cheese on my fork and eat it right off the fork! But, then again, I love bleu cheese!Boardwalk Billy’s is a casual, sports bar-type restaurant that has very good food. Besides this location in Matthews, there is one in the University area as well. You can’t go wrong eating there and I’m sure once you do, you’ll go back.

Cajun Yard Dog

We visited for my brother-in-law's birthday after checking their menu on-line - big surprise when I found the prices were 50% than on-line. Good hot Cajun creole, jambolaya, and blackened red snapper. My wife, who is averse to spicy food got a nasty surprise from their greasy, over-spiced chicken cordon bleu, not a big fan of their cabbage, which she deemed a bad attempt at a cassarole.Based upon the crowd that came in around 6:00, it appears to a meet, drink, and appetizer joint.

Red Lobster

Went to Red Lobster in Matthews tonight for endless shrimp. We arrived at 5:25 and there was one other couple waiting. They were training a girl at the hostess stand, so it took some time showing her how to find tables and seat people. At 5:35 the manager seated us in the bar area.Ten minutes later, our server came over and welcomed us and said he would be right back with bread and water. He brought the water and said they were backed up on the bread. I told him we’d rather have it with our salads anyway. We both ordered the endless shrimp. I ordered the grilled teriyaki and crispy honey sriracha, while my husband ordered the garlic and sriracha.Almost 20 minutes later our server brought our salads and biscuits. He said he’d be right back with bread plates. He did come back right away, but had his thumb on the inside of the top plate and then in the second one when he placed them on the table for us. A big no-no in any restaurant, 3 Michelin Star or not.Twenty minutes later our initial order comes out. Since it took so long, I placed my reorder for the teriyaki right then. We finish that and 20 minutes later he comes back and asks if we want reorders. I looked at him and said that I had already placed my reorder when he brought this… He then remembers, and apologizes, takes my reorder request again and my husband’s. I asked him to go ahead and bring two reorders for me and he says that they can’t do that. What? The quicker you get me outta here, the quicker you can make money! You get more tips the quicker you can turn a table over!!! Restaurant 101, duh…We wait, and wait, and 20 minutes later our reorder comes. We put in our next reorder. Again waiting and waiting. He comes over and asks if we got our reorders and we told him no. Tried to explain to him about getting tables turned over and the manager should be helping in the kitchen if it can’t come out any quicker than this. I guess he misunderstands because from that point on the kitchen manager is our waiter. He brought our second reorder out and apologizes. We are now out of water. Our server checks on us two more times, takes another reorder from us, but doesn’t notice we are out of water…what did I say earlier, oh, yeah, Restaurant 101. I asked for more water and we got it sooner than I expected. So the kitchen manager brings our reorder out and asks if everything is okay and we immediately ask for another reorder, which we get immediately! Our server tried, and was a really nice guy, but I don’t think serving tables is the right job for him.The food was great, except for my rice which was not cooked at all, I couldn’t even bite into it, but I didn’t say anything because I didn’t have another hour to waste. I didn’t say anything to the manager because by this time they were swamped and he was seating people and cleaning tables. If you go, good luck, and just know you may be there an hour and a half. The two stars are because of service.Hi, terrec. We're sorry to hear that you were unsatisfied with your experience at our Matthews restaurant and we'd like to learn how we can make this better. My wife and I visit our daughter regularly in Charlotte NC and she lives about a mile from this restaurant/market. For months we drove by this location thinking it was only a seafood market. On our last trip I found out (using TripAdvisor) it is also a eat-in/take-out restaurant, so we stopped for dinner. I had the fried shrimp and my wife had one of the daily specials (a white fish). The food (fish, shrimp, green beans, potatoes) are outstanding. I don't think fresher seafood can be found in Charlotte. The food was so good that we returned (with my wife's sister) the next day for dinner. This time we had the crispy skin Scottish salmon. Excellent! There are only 6 - 8 tables so beware. The prices seem fair. The service is excellent. The ambiance is.....well, it is a seafood market. We will be visiting probably every time we go to Charlotte.

I absolutely love Bonefish Grill. It's always hoppin'. The food is always amazing and not bland in the slightest. the atmosphere has deep rich browns and silvers. The parmesean crusted rainbow trout is the absolute best. My hubby had me taste it once and I tried hard to refuse, but once I did, I won't order anything else! The pork tenderloins are great, too!
