Back to Chapel Hill for graduation week-end, and we again partook of this delightful Asian fusion venue. We enjoyed the Tempura Asparagus and Crispy Spring Roll appetizers. I then had the special Blue Fin Tuna â3 Waysâ plate. While technically a Small plate, this was satisfying and filling. Mrs Gyr gave high marks to the Indochine Chicken Curry, which was flavorful and not too spicy. Pleasant ambiance, delightfully friendly service, and great desserts: Coconut cake, and âElements Pieâ (aka Belgian chocolate mouse). Elements is highly recommended!

My interaction with the Manager Zeke was less than desirable and will lead to us NEVER going back again. Zee decided it was in his best interest to argue with me about a mistake the kitchen made (mistakes happen but its how you deal with them). Maybe I should have checked the Orange County Health Inspection website before I went there anyways....

We ordered sushi from their limited sushi menu. The fish was OK, the rice not up to par. The service was attentive. We had a "carrot cake" for dessert, and it was kind of ghastly. With drinks and tip, it came to over $200. We won't be backâthere are much better choices for sushi in Durham.Hello Mr. Steve.I want to thank you for visiting and supporting my restaurant. Where to eat Deli food in Chapel Hill: The Best Restaurants and Bars

This is a typical small storefront restaurant, much like the ones in Japan. Although there are a few tables, it's better to sit at the sushi bar where a conveyor belt passes in front of you where dishes of sushi and sashimi pass in front of you for the picking and where you can watch the sushi chef work. There are also many other possibilities that you can order from passing waiters. Each colored plate has a price from $1 to $5, and the waiter just counts the plates when you are finished and adds them to your bill. We each started with a half miso soba dish. It was delicious. Then we stated in on excellent sushi (several vegetarian options). My wife ordered a spicy tuna sashimi that she loved. We ended with green tea ice cream into which the waiter placed a candle as it was my wife's birthday. Very accommodating!

Akai Hana ("Red Flower") delivers on its food. Their menu is straightforward and understandable and their quality is consistent. I have eaten here many, many times over the years. It is a cozy setting, not the place to go if you and your sweetheart are having a knock-down, drag-out fight, though, okay, so take heed on that one!! There are a number of 2 and 4 top tables. Not a great place for a large group, in my opinion. Just because it is not a large restaurant. There is a small sushi bar if you like the whole prep thing, too.
