Belmont is a small suburban city in Gaston County, North Carolina, United States, located about 15 miles (24 km) west of uptown Charlotte and 9 miles (14 km) east of Gastonia. The population was 10,076 at the 2010 census. Once known as Garibaldi Station, the name change for Belmont is disputed. Some say it was named for a prominent New York banker - August Belmont. Others contend the Pope ordered the abbot of the monastery to change the name since he would not tolerate an abbey in a place that bore the Garibaldi name. The abbot could see Crowder's mountain from the property and named the town Belmont - "beautiful mountain". Belmont is home to Belmont Abbey College.

Located in Historic Downtown Belmont, our building is right on main street. We have our very own parking, conveniently located right beside our newly renovated, large outdoor patio. Just keep an eye out for The String Bean 'green' shade sails.
This was a nice place in the quaint town of Belmont. We had to wait a bit to get seated and waited for various things but the food was very good. It was just a nice time to sit and visit since we had a little time of waiting. But Iâd go again. The food was yummy and TVs wait staff was nice. You could sit inside or out.

We lunched late on a Friday. The tables were mostly empty in the surprisingly cozy interior.Old Stone does many elegant touches well Arugula was a nice complement to the beef tips on pita. The horseradish sauce added to the dish but didn't kidnap it. The apple slaw was excellent- fresh tasting, different and tasty.THAT Lady ordered the Burger Special. The mesquite flavor earned the claim of specialilty (Yep. That's how I'd like to spell that). The fries were thick slabs of potato, Browned at the edges but flaky inside.THAT burger for THAT Lady was ordered with pimento cheese, the lure that tempts Wisconsin Badgers to summer with the Tarheels. It was delivered with an American cheese that was bland and greasy. Wisconsinites made U turns for Neenah, Sheboygan and Fon-du-Lac.The simpler things matter too.

This place was crowded and VERY noisy. BUT the food was delicious and the wait staff was very friendly and efficient. There is a wide selection -- something for everyone. It is obviously very popular. If you are looking for a quiet, intimate dinner, this is not the place to go. All in all, it was a good meal and fun.

Tried the chophouse the week they opened. They were still learning. They didn't have the salmon, but we learned that the order that came in was not acceptable, so they wouldn't serve it. We also had a slight mix up with the catfish, but they corrected it quickly. We will give them another chance.
