Muddy Creek Cafe and Music Hall

Reviewed By travelingbillbury

Muddy Creek is open on a regular schedule as a traditional cafe/coffeehouse/bar. In addition, they often have live music on a corner stage in the dining room--mostly local and regional Americana artists. I recently enjoyed a great show from Wild Ponies, traveling from Nashville. I unexpectedly caught a great short set from Couldn't Be Happiers and wonderful duo (joined by a great bass player for the first time) on a Saturday afternoon. The music hall recently opened with back-to-back performances from acclaimed songwriters Matraca Berg and Mary Gauthier. The listening room experience was great. The cafe offers some great food. I enjoyed the tuna melt once, the ham and cheese another time. Friends had the Impossible Burger and salad with blackened salmon. Everything was very tasty. We shared a piece of chocolate coconut pie--very chocolate-y and rich, delicious. Oh, fried pickles were great, very sour and crispy--made from pickles sourced from nearby Mt. Pilot (I think).Service all around was friendly and efficient.

My husband and I retired in Crumpler North Carolina( originally from Charlotte ) have not been too happy with restaurants except for maybe a couple. Some friends of ours took us to this pizzeria restaurant in Sparta. The service and staff were very friendly and were able to sit six of us in reasonable amount of time for a Saturday night. The wings and the pizza were absolutely amazing. Just about all their beer is on tap which is also great and so are the prices. I would recommend this place to anyone. By the way did I mention the live music.

Straight from my notes but if the beer was free it would step up to Excellent! A fairly new brew pub with a fresh feel and some kicker brews ! We only dropped in for a drink and ended up having dinner as well. The food at present is pretty basic with sandwiches, paninis & dogs but they are still a work in progress. We had a really enjoyable evening talking & drinking with other friendly patrons and the pleasant barman. The beer combo was the pick for value (Beer & Dog) @ $9.50 and the Beer of the night was the Squash Soup Beer, a real taste treat !! The outdoor beer garden will be the spot to be in the warmer months !
