Ashten's is a downtown Southern Pines institution. For over 21 years we have been sourcing and serving local ingredients that best tell the story of our area.
The service and atmosphere were nice but the food was nothing special. We had the squash blossom for appetizer and it just tasted like fried crust. I think there was supposed to be goat cheese in it? I had the cashew crusted chicken with risotto. The risotto was not good and green. The chicken was nothing special. Very disappointing meal for $60. Dear tmiller461,I'm so sorry that you did not enjoy your dinner at Ashten's. We work very hard to please all of our customers and I'm very disappointed that you were unhappy with your meal. We are known for our fresh, local and creative cuisine but I apologize that we fell short of your and our expectations. We would love to make it up to you if you would allow us to send you a gift certificate to dine with us again. Please contact us through our email, [email protected] and we will get one in the mail to you immediately. Thank you for taking the time to write your review and I hope you will allow us to change your mind about our food.Best,Ashley Van CampAshten's

Situated on the veranda overlooking the historic 18th hole of Pinehurst No. 2, The Deuce features made-from-scratch cuisine in a relaxed setting. Featuring an open-air bar, our newest restaurant offers the best view of the famed course's historic finishin
The Deuce is located just behind the eighteenth green at iconic Pinehurst #2 - the scene of major golf championships over the years. Park in the large visitors lot and make the longish walk to the front door of the Resort (there is a separate members door to the left). Walk long the inside hallway and view pictures and memorabilia of significant events held at Pinehurst. We even found ourselves in a shot of the 18th on Sunday of the 2014 US Open. The Deuce is at the end of the hall to the left and across from the pro shop. We arrived at 7:30PM on a Thursday evening and the place was nearly empty. We elected to sit outside and enjoy the early evening and to view the course. Thy have a long and good draught beer menu while the food menu is along the lines of "pub food". No problem.I ordered a beer and burger (can't go wrong there) and the beer arrived cold and tasty. The burger came a bit later and it was immediately disappointing. The menu describes the burger as a blend of short ribs and brisket. Sounded good to me! But the reality was different. I thought the taste was "funny" and off-putting. A regular beef burger would have been a better choice (there was not that option). Two others with us also had a burger and felt the same. In our group - no one expressed much positive about their meal...Just average was the group's assessment. So - I'd suggest just going to The Deuce for a cocktail or two, relax in a rocking chair by the 18th green, and soak in Pinehust #2 while imagining the roars you'd hear on a championship late afternoon. Then...go somewhere else for dinner!

It had been a number of years since I had been to a Golden Corral. I was pleasantly surprised with the variety and quality of the food. Everything I tried from the buffet was cooked perfectly and had great taste. I will make this a regular addition to my restaurant selections.
