This place by far has the best sandwiches, with the best prices in NC. They are perfectly handmade and LOADED with whatever you request! It it our favorite place in ALL of NC to get a sandwich. This place is formally known as âBaconsâ, but I think that the upgrades to the store as well as food is definitely beneficial!!! You HAVE to check it out!!!!! The food is amazing, but it is so awesome that you can stop in for a lunch but also get some grocery items while you are there. They support other local businesses such as farmers and also The Savory Spoon Bakery there in Hillsborough. We ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!
First time trying Whits, and this is a sweet gem of Hillsborough. The line was out door which is always a good sign. There's a pretty large menu of ice cream items as well as prepackaged ice cream sandwiches and quarts. I ordered the strawberry shortcake it was delicious and pretty large. I was not able to eat all of it so it's great for sharing. My friend had vanilla ice cream with fudge and walnuts.

Enjoyed an amazing family breakfast today at the Village Diner...Special Today Hash Bowl was phenomenal. Tiny enjoyed pancakes with sausage and bacon. Mommy enjoyed a Sunday brunch mimosa. We were traveling through but would definitely stop through again soon. Locals joint but no staring as strangers enter...Super friendly and welcoming staff.

My family and I love this place. Their food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. They prepare take out orders very quickly and accurately every time. We usually order the Mediterranean food, but they have a lot of good food on the menu. The gyro platters are really good and plenty of food for another snack later. I love their chicken orzo soup- if you are a soup person, you have to try it. The broth is some of the best I have tasted. They also have a whole case full of desserts, which is a great plus! If you live in Hillsborough or are passing through, give this place a try! It's a go-to for us.

Nice vibe inside, friendly server. The Burke pizza choice was regrettable. Weird flavor to have a cheddar cheese on a pizza. At least for me anyway. At least they are open on Monday. A rarity in downtown Hillsborough I discovered.

This is a neighborhood pub, run by locals, serving locals. This seems to have a theme of drinking, not so much eating. If you aren't a regular or a local, the experience is not designed for you. Seating is rustic - plywood booths without padding, or a long, narrow community table. Decor is focused on beer ads, photographs of locals, and "Club 69" plaques. We were told that you get a laser-engraved plaque with your likeness and name inscribed if you try all 69 liqueurs on their bar; there were many of these plaques on the walls. The food, however, was better than expected. Fish tacos were the best I've ever had (seriously!), enhanced by the taco shells made on-site (so good!), and the salad plates were fresh, generous, and tasty.

The food and staff are both great, with a good selection of hot and cold bar foods, as well as baked goods and treats, in addition to the regular grocery, which stocks interesting chocolate bars, etc along with the more standard grocery items. You can dine outside, with tables and chairs set in a cafe style. Whenever we're in the area, we try and get to Weaver Street!

LaPlace was our favorite restaurant in Hillsborough. We often joked that we could eat there every day. Admittedly, the concept change was disappointing to us before we even tried James Pharmacy. That being said, my overall review is still not a positive one, and I wish it were. The Good: The Peel and Eat Shrimp were absolutely the best we've ever had. No contest. The rest of the menu however, was limited and seemed to focus on fried fish and french fries. Those are hard to mess up, and not menu items we get excited to go out for. I had the fish tacos, which were good, but there are many exceptional taco joints in and around Hillsborough that also have terrific fish tacos. The main reason we will not make James Pharmacy a part of our usual rotation is the lack of a host. The new "seat yourself" approach is just not for us. We like to be taken care of when we dine out, and having a table chosen and prepared for us is part of that experience. We do not enjoy hawkishly eyeing people at tables, hoping we may be able to swoop in to their table and grab it before someone else does. If LaPlace had never existed, and had not offered such superb service and had such a unique, special, and varied menu, perhaps I would be less critical in my review of JP. The shadow of LaPlace's excellence hangs heavy over this new brand.

Understated décor and lovely pictures on the rough walls give a most relaxed feel to this restaurant. Our waitress was friendly and efficient, the food was excellent and well presented on the plates and, although the dining area was full, there was just a low hum of happy eaters enjoying their meals. I had the crab cakes which were filled with crab and little filler and my husband had a lunch special of citrus halibut which was perfectly cooked. No crashing of dishes or loud shouting from staff - all in all a very relaxed and enjoyable experience. We did not have a reservation but were there as the restaurant opened at 11.30 am - I think we were lucky as it filled up quickly and probably the way to go is to book a table to avoid disappointment as this is not a large restaurant.
