This city forms part of Roslagen, one of the coastal areas of the Uppland province about 80 km northeast of Stockholm. Unlike many of the islands in the archipelago, Norrtälje is an attractive year-round destination. With a variety of quaint shops, art museums and galleries, cafés, and some small live music venues, this island is definitely worth a visit. The yearly “Jazz Days” festival gives the island a charming flair and offers travelers the opportunity to really enjoy the Swedish summer sun. Fly fishing is also popular on the island, while there are a few stores that sell bait and tackle. Hostels are open all year, a bonus for those on a budget. Buses run frequently from Stockholm to Norrtälje.

We offer accommodation, conference facilities, restaurant, bar, sauna, lounge, function room and in the summer a large open-air restaurant next to the Norrtälje river. Åtellet has been built from scratch in a 19th century style, but once inside you’ll find a modern hotel with everything you need. Åtellet has 22 rooms, 18 double and 4 single. All rooms are no smoking. Several of our rooms have balconies or French balconies, with a stunning view of Norrtäljeviken Bay. There is wireless internet access throughout the hotel.
We stayed at Åtellet for three nights in May. My husband was working and I spent my days in Norrtälje. It was my birthday and we should have a little celebration. We got a nice room with a balcony and enjoyed a quiet first night. The day after was rainy, so I spent time in the room. There were lots of problems with the wifi and at times, it didn't work at all. There is no way to communicate with the reception from the room, so I went up and down several times during our stay to report on wifi problems. We had booked online two days before arrival and received confirmation but when we arrived, they could not find our reservation. The reception is not manned constantly so you often have to wait or look around for someone to help. And there is no help after 9pm. This caused a problem on our second night. We had room 12 and we heard voices coming through the ventilation system. They were probably coming from the room next door where a family group was celebrating rather loudly. A man from the restaurant contacted them which resulted in the woman becoming angry and knocking on our door. The description of the hotel says sound-insulated rooms but that was not our experience. The next morning, there was no offer of help from the reception. Rather, I had to suggest that we move. We got an ok room on the other side of the building but without a balcony and near the parking. We slept with our window open and all was fine until 7am when a huge truck was backing just under our window. Breakfast was good and the woman working then was nice and friendly. Nice idea with the egg and bacon served individually. The bacon was crisp and the scrambeled eggs warm. Nice breakfast buffet and one can sit outside during good weather. So, in comparison to other hotels we have stayed at in Norrtälje, this is the nicest for the price but the sound issue and wifi problems were disappointing.

We rented bikes on the 4th June for the day. We had a problem which was totally our fault, and the owner of the hostel was extremely helpful in sorting everything out. She really went out of her way to help us the best she could, and we were not even staying at the hostel!

A hotel dating back to 1886 with a charming, traditional and personal atmosphere. All rooms have a garden view towards a large terrace and garden with many apple trees. All rooms have bathrooms, TV, WiFi and water boiler for coffe and tea. All prices include half board, which means a set homemade dinner and a breakfast buffé. The hotel is situated a 5-6 minute walk from the town centre, a 7-8 minute walk to a nice beach. One hour from Stockholm by bus or car and an hour from the main airport Arlanda. We offer free parking around the hotel. In the summer we offer BBQ and a café with our homemade cakes and our own apple juice. We wish you a warm welcome to Norrtälje and Sweden, Hillevi and Mike Lindblom , passionate owners
We were travelling from Finland to Sweden. We had the ferry Naantali Kapellskar. We had booked half pension. Dinner and breakfast. And paid for it. Alas the kitchen was closed at 7pm. These people would be out of business within a week in Holland. Besides that the hotel room needs a complete make-over.

Welcome to Sure Hotel by Best Western Roslagen, located only 1.5 km from central Norrtälje and Stockholm, Uppsala and Arlanda Airport are within 1 hour's drive. We offer a terrace, volleyball court, a mini golf court and free parking. Our guests enjoy free access to the nearby Actic Gym.
My husband was working nearby so we stayed at this hotel for six nights. We arrived on a Sunday evening when they do not serve their evening meal so we asked about where to ear. The advice from the reception to go in to town was not expremly helpful since most restaurants were closed on Sun. evening. The soap dispenser above our sink did not work the entire stay. I finally went to a nearby ICA and bought liquid soap since washing hands is particulatly important during this time. The handyman did come and fix our broken faucet but not the soap dispenser. The room and bathroom were clean and the bed and pillows were very good. It was very hot and there is no AC. The fan in the room was very noisy so we had to turn it down or off at some point during the night. We had our window open all the time which helped. The size of our room was good. There were two comfortable chairs which were VERY noisy when you sat in them and need to be replaced. The breakfast and evening meal were very good and beer, wine and alcholic drinks are available. We were shocked that the parking is no longer free as that is what is advertised in many of the places I read about the hotel. The walk to town and back is ok but a bit tiresome when it is very hot. I would suggest that the hotel buy a bike or two for guests. The two places I found to rent a bike charge 190 or 275 kr. per 24 hrs. which makes it a bit expensive for six days. The staff was friendly but did not know some information that one would expect them to know. . . such as how to get to the military museum, bus information, etc. The hotel building feels run down but there are positives about the hotel.

I stayed in Marholmen, in the hotel for about 5 days, late March early April 2021. I have always overlooked Marholmen before, thinking it was a conference and spa hotel. Well, it is that, also, but it is also a facility tailored to families, and casual tourists. It is one of the archipelago hotels, that is accessed by car, (good if you want to avoid public transport, such as during the ongoing covid 19, pandemic) . That said, actually there is not really any useful way to get to Marholmen by public transport, since it is located in the countryside, in the middle of nowhere. The facility is built on a hotel, but also cottages where you can self cater. I stayed in the hotel, and I had chosen a room with a sea view. Good room, relatively comfortable bed and a nice easy chair, (that would seat 2 people if they are ok with sitting close). Nice little balcony. Sea view rooms, view of a narrow sound, with lots of sea birds. But not a view of the open sea towards the horizon. I set up my scope and tripod on the balcony and could see many species of migrating and stationary ducks, geese, swans and grebes, + other birds!! Wow!! (actually regular binoculars would be enough) Kettle, but no fridge. The room lacks space for storing belongings. Good service, with staff being professional and taking an interest in guests, but, it still has a little bit of a large hotel anonymity and professionalism over it. Covid 19 routines good, with screens between guest and staff at the reception, and restaurant reception, and lots of space between guests at breakfast and dinner. The food is good, but very limited selection, (I exhausted the entire dinner selection during my 5 day stay), also not for the budget minded. Great selection at the breakfast of everything you could want for breakfast. Possible to collect a lunch pack at breakfast, for the days excursion, including filling your termos, (but they don´t market this, and not many people are doing it, so they are not used to it.): (the restaurant serves lunch some days, during busy times, but not every day. This is worth checking out, since there is also nowhere else to get lunch, since the location is very rural.) Nice inner archipelago environment, with fields, reed beds, some groves of different trees, and lots of historic buildings from Marholmen´s past as an educational and recreational facility for the Labour union movements. A cafe on the island, open during busy times of the year, and for those not knowing what to do with themselves in the archipelago nature, lots of outdoor activities like walking gym, crazy golf, quiz walk etc. And I think cayak rental and such during summer. Of cause bathing.
