A good find - location street not attractive but inside has good atmosphere, made special by the charming proprietor who is very knowledgeable on his wines, and about the food - all made (other than cheese!) in house. We had a charcuterie plank on first visit, and a mixed plank on our second - all very tasty and with good recommendations for the wine to accompany. Would definitely go back

fine pleasant and engaging staff, excellent menu options including specials, very good wine offerings, outside dining is comfortable and in an active but not noisy location, we actually ate here two nights in a row it was so good, food is wonderfully prepared and presented, prix fixe is highly recommended

Limited menu. I ordered some type of mushroom soup that just tasted like cream. My partner had the ravioli that had some strange foamy cheese sauce and smelled like stinky feet. Dessert apple tart was pretty good though.

Les Petites Bouches is a traditional French restaurant located in the center of Caen. In a friendly atmosphere, discover our seasonal menu.
In my opinion, restuarant experience is a mix of taste, experience, and service. For the taste part, I did not find anything exceptional to justify the above average price. The fish and beef were both average. the fish is a oven cooked fish. I never liked fish in any French restaurants so you may or may not want my advice on fish. For the beef that my GF brought, I thought it is too sweet for a beef. I am a huge beef eater so I am not extremely satisfied with the beef. For the experience, I would say that the food decoration is very good. They used some exotic spicy for the dessert and this spicy made the dessert memorable but average taste. I thought that it was stranger that the menu is so predominantly fish. The service is fast for a French restaurant but we were the first peoeple in the restaurant so maybe they had nothing to do. If you are reading this then you must prefer English, the server's English is ok but you are wasting your time if you want a more detailed description of the food other than whether it is fish or beef.BTW, tripadvisor's address for the restaurant is wrong.

I chose Initial because it was a Michelin One Star Restaurant and I was eagerly anticipating my meal there. However, Iâm sorry to say I was disappointed in the food. The ambiance is fine â a bit cold and modern, but the tables are well spaced so that you are not on top of your neighbors. Service was great. The personnel there were always very responsive and not in a hovering manner. However, in my opinion, the food was just okay. I had the 6 course menu with 5 wines. The wines were very good â and appropriate â for the food selections, though I found it a bit annoying that I was asked to guess what wine I was being served. The food was beautifully presented, but unfortunately, it was simply bland. The chef likes his foams â or, I suppose, "emulsions" â and they appear on virtually every dish. However, none of the food that was covered by the âemulsionsâ had any spice, so much so that I asked for a pepper mill in an attempt to give the food a little flavor. The price wasnât at all expensive for a Michelin One Star Restaurant --- if only the food had been better.

Daring to have âbouchonâ in the name of your restaurant and not being in Lyon is a real challenge. So we were very curious about this restaurant. It is situated in the center of Caen, and by nice weather you can eat on the terrace, what I would not recommend, because it is on the sidewalk of a steep street. Sometimes cars stand there and their fumes come over. So it is better to have the meal inside. You better book your table in advance, because there is the risk that the place is full. We got a nice table in the back of the small restaurant. The menu is on a blackboard. You can choose out of two set menus or each dish can be ordered à la carte. It is also possible to choose a dish from one menu and another from the other menu. Nobody worries. We ate brandade dâandouillette with snails and scrambled egg, a carrot veloute, gazpacho from zucchini with poached egg, chicken leg cooked in Norman beer and pork breast with carrot stew. As dessert we had chocolate cake and rum cake. All dishes where really good, well cooked and tasteful. This restaurant is a very good place to have a lovely meal. So is the lady of the house: very professional and friendly.
