Reviews on French food in Bayeux, Normandy, France. The northern French town of Bayeux is best known for the eponymous tapestry that depicts the 11th-century Norman Conquest. You can see it, of course, on display at the Bayeux Tapestry Museum. The cloth’s original home was the Bayeux Cathedral, which still towers over the area, looking a bit like a Gothic wedding cake. Inside you’ll find beautifully detailed murals and haunting crypts. Bayeux makes an excellent jumping off point to tour nearby historic WWII sites.

We had a lovely lunch here while visiting Bayeux in early July. My parents ordered from the lunch menu offer of plate and dessert for â¬16.50. They had Travers de porc à la provençale, purée de pomme de terre as a main and the dessert wasRiz au lait à l'ancienne et fruits rouges. Both dishes were lovingly prepared and absolutely delicious. They were very happy with their food choice and it was a great lunch deal.My husband and myself went for pizza dishes. My husband had chorizo and peperoni pizza and thoroughly enjoyed it and I really liked my 4 Cheese Pizza of Normandy, too. For dessert we had some delicious apple ice cream. The kids had steak haché avec frites followed by ice cream and were delighted. We enjoyed a really memorable meal here.

If you want to try the galette ( buckwheat pancake with various toppings ) or the crepe then this is a great place. For 9⬠you will be full and it includes a nice glass of local cidre. I reccomend the rhubarb confiture with your dessert crepe ;)

Based on reviews from TripAdvisor we booked a table here. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This restaurant serves really very fine food, both in taste, texture and composition. The wines selected, matched the experience. Service is friendly and attentive. One waitress speaks excellent English. Prices are quite modest given the quality of the food and service.Do make a reservation as the restaurant can be busy.

Charming restaurant on a sunny quiet terrasse along the river. Direct in front of the Tapestry Museum, close to the cathedral and the historical town center.
A very pleasant place to eat. The service was excellent, and the local dishes -- buckwheat crepes, local cider -- were superb. This restaurant is one of the places that proves the old adages that the best French food is to be found outside of Paris. And the charming views of the garden were so pleasant! I have nothing but happy memories of this restaurant!

Restaurant and Tea Salon Delicious and simple cuisine, our dishes are well balanced and made with healthy, seasonal ingredients. Everything is homemade! Our hours for the month of May: Meals are served from 12 to 3 pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and
On our first night in Bayeux we were looking for something reasonably priced. The owners of where we were staying recommended Chez Paulette. The menu is quite limited but the end product and prices are good. We had bagels and a flat quiche like dish washed down with cider and Diabloâs for the children. We are here from NY and my son gave the bagels a big thumbs up even compared to those back home. My German wife gave her blessing to the flat quiche! The deserts were also very good and were accompanied by some whimsical candies - my cheesecake came with a coke bottle gummy - no idea why but it made me smile. The owner is quiet but friendly. I would go again.

You're restaurant is closed the Thursday and the Sunday (off saison). In season we welcome you from 12 o'clock until 1.30pm for the lunch and from 7.00pm for the dinner.
I came to this beautiful restaurant on a vacation with my family to visit the beaches in Normandy. We made our reservation months in advance and were very glad that we did. We came for the first seating and watched many people be turned away due to the restaurant being completely full. The restaurant itself is beautiful with classically French decor that looks like it should be the set of a movie. Our dinner was a culinary experience from start to finish. I had the best filet and foi gras that I have ever had in my entire life. Anyone visiting Normandy or Bayeux should make sure to eat at this five star restaurant.

I have been coming to Normandy with groups since 2014. Each year, the best meal we experience is right here. Caroline is so gracious and attentive, the setting is always lovely, and Sebastien never fails to delight my guests with each course of our menu. There are many choices in Bayeux to enjoy a great meal, but I always schedule this as our final meal before heading back to Paris. This is a visually appealing restaurant one block off the main street in a relatively quiet setting. There are a few tables outside if the weather cooperates, as well as three dining areas inside, so it does not feel like a single large dining room. I always make reservations since I bring groups, but I would also make a reservation for just myself and my wife, to ensure we would not be disappointed upon arrival. The only reason I can think of to come here EARLY in your visit is in case you want to come back again before you leave!

In the heart of Bayeux, La Rapiere is a warm and traditionnal restaurant, with a food that we try every day to raise to offer you high standard meals. Please note : bookings are highly recommended, we don't accept pets, and unfortunately we don't have veg
We found La Rapiere through Tripadvisor and booked a reservation in May for an October dinner when we were travelling through the Loire and Normandy regions of France. Not many locals in the restaurant on the night we were there. But we had a very nice dinner. Charming restaurant. Small, intimate with a beamed ceiling. Nice menu. You can choose one of two set menus. We had an 8 p.m. reservation and left around 10 p.m. on a Saturday night after all of the 6 people in our party opted to order the more expensive of the two set menus and we had a bottle of champagne and 3 bottles of wine with dinner and dessert. Staff did not seemingly realize that one of friends is fluent in French; she overheard a disparaging remark by a staff member that they wanted us to leave so they could go home. This was the sour note on an otherwise nice evening.
