Norfolk Island Hotels | Places to Stay in Norfolk Island

August 12, 2022 Jasper Kershner

At first glance, it’s hard to believe that vibrant Norfolk Island could have a dark past. Yet during the 19th century, the now-peaceful Australian retreat was a convict colony, home to criminals who’d been banished into exile. Today, the archaeological remains of the penal colony have UNESCO World Heritage status and are revered for their historical significance. You can visit the settlement’s remains, an eerie yet beautiful collection that includes a jail, a cemetery, lumbar yard and salt house.

Rooms with a view

Reviewed By I7280QBkarenc

Jacaranda Cottages had everything we could wish for in accomodation.....friendly hosts, spotlessly clean facilities, quiet & private cottages, and a stunning view from the outdoor balcony. The rooms were spatious and comfortable and the kitchen had everything needed for a self-contained cottage. The little extra finishing touches such as fresh flowers, picnic basket and rug for guest use, beach towels, books, dvds and music, were all added bonuses. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting this beautiful island.

wonderful stay at Tintoela

Reviewed By andyk9

We had a fantastic five day stay in the stunning Hilli cottage at Tintoela. The cottage itself is amazing: views to die for from most rooms; polished Norfolk pine floors and cathedral ceilings; luxurious appointments; it provided every convenience we could ask for and more! The Tintoela property is like a large Botanic Garden, with lawns sloping down to the Cascade valley and from there to lovely views of the Pacific Ocean. It balances privacy with reasonable closeness to the facilities of the town. Manager Shaun was extremely helpful and generous with his time; meeting us at the airport and providing our rental car, and then being available throughout our stay when his advice was needed. Norfolk Island itself was amazing: so much history, culture and natural beauty. We will certainly recommend both Tintoela and the island to our friends as well worth a visit, and we would love to return. Bob and Linda Knight

We had a lovely time staying in the Gazebo cottage overlooking Cascade Pier. Very well appointed with everything one would need for a stay of 7 nights. Without being obtrusive Ariane was readily available to help if needed. We had issues with TV and Foxtel but that is more of an Island thing than being specific to Forrester Court. In any event Norfolk is not about TV! The property is about a 7 or 8 minute drive to both the township and Kingston historical area but getting anywhere on Norfolk isn't a problem with a car, which is included in the tariff by the way. We did the High Tea on Sunday which was very good. A lovely week celebrating my 80th.

We stayed at Channers for 8 days as we explored the Island. The hosts facilitated our stay between two lovely apartments. Kerri-Ann managed the transfer of our luggage seamlessly. She also arranged restaurant and other bookings in advance of our arrival. A hire car was part of the package so we were all set up for a very relaxing, trouble free holiday . We highly recommend Channers and their efficient and friendly hosts. Rod & Robyn

This is an excellent place to stay. Close enough to the town but far enough away. Its clean, well furnished and the view whilst sitting outside have a glass of red worth the entire trip. You must have a car and plan on cooking some meals yourself. Bring cheese, breakfast, UHT milk and biscuits. Have a picnic at a park by taking the kit with you. We did. This is the place to stay and relax.

Wonderful accommodation

Reviewed By JayDeeBee1950

We travelled as 6 couples and had adjoining units with a hire car included with each unit. Check in is a well oiled process with pick up from the airport and drop off at the door. The facility is located with views over Phillip Island. The units are fully self contained with all necessities including a picnic basket. The cars are small 4 door automatics ideal for driving around Norfolk. There is a large guest lounge with tables and chairs as well as a separate barbecue pavilion again with tables and chairs. There is a tennis court. Well maintained and very comfortable. TV is from Australia with all free to air channels. We all were very pleased with our accommodation which is not quite within short walking distance to the town centre but the route is flat. We had a week on the Island and ran out of time with things to do both free and paid for. History is fantastic and there are walks and nature trails to follow. Norfolk Island is probably not for young children or teenagers (limited internet - expensive) but has swimming golf fishing and other out door pursuits. We have been three times and will go again and will stay at Ocean Breeze.

Wonderful place, friendly staff, convenient location

Reviewed By bris_girl80

We stayed here recently for our honeymoon and were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived and were shown around our villa, up until the moment we left, we were treated like family. On arrival, we received a complimentary breakfast pack (eggs, bread, butter, milk and juice along with an assortment of condiments) - oh, and a bottle of sparkling wine! The accommodation was very comfortable; two king size rooms, an en-suite with massive shower off one of the rooms and a shower over spa tub in another. The lounge was equipped with dvd player (and hundreds of dvds to borrow from the office) and with free WIFI internet (which can be patchy with iphones but we got around that problem). Laundry was $5 per load; $5 for washing and $5 for clothes drier (there was no need for the drier as the weather was perfect and clothes could be hung on the line provided in the cabin). The resort provided a rental car complimentary (with only the insurance to be paid daily) which was very useful to explore the island. There was a heated spa on-site which was lovely to take a dip in. There were three little dogs on site who belonged to the owner; the dogs were so friendly. I can't thank Gail and Rael enough for our wonderful stay. We saw Gail and Rael most days on their walk past our cabin and were always with a smile on their face.
