This was a quick one nighter. The rooms were nice, but average. The breakfast wasn’t too bad. A basic continental breakfast. The location is good. You’re not too far from downtown Indy. Located right off the highway, the hotel is also close to restaurants and a shopping center. We didn’t take advantage of their pool and the Wi-Fi wasn’t bad at all.

Overall, my kids and I had a good stay at this Embassy Suites. The 2 room Queen suite was very nice, clean and allowed us to spread out a little more than a normal hotel room. I was impressed with the cleanliness, the downstairs bar area and location to shopping and restaurants. The bad: 1.). The mobile app allowed me to check in early and it delivered my room key and room number an hour or so before I arrived. As I physically arrived at the hotel, I went to pull my digital key up and it was telling me to Check In but wouldn't allow me to do so. I closed the app and reopened and still didn't get my key so I had to go to the front desk. The front desk agent was nice but it took a few minutes before he was able to push the digital key to me again. I then had trouble opening my door each time as it took 5-6 tries for the digital key to work. 2.) This is probably my biggest issue and likely the thing that would keep me from booking this hotel again in the future - it's 2022 and this hotel doesn't have SMART TV's in the rooms. I tried and tried to figure out how to pull up Netflix, Hulu, etc and couldn't figure it out (and I'm very tech savvy). I even tried to AirPlay from my Mac but there was no option. I went to the front desk and asked and they said they don't have Smart TVs....what hotel in this day and age doesn't have Smart TVs? This may not seem like a big deal but my kids and I always watch scary movies as we stay in hotels and travel and we were left with Dish Network normal TV with nothing playing on a Monday night.

The hotel is very nice and clean. Unfortunately without a good staff, a nice and clean hotel is useless and the stay is tainted. I worked as a front desk/night audit for 5 1/2 years so I feel pretty confident in knowing the basic ins and outs of a hotel front desk. When I arrived, they didn’t even check my ID (HUGE safety issue which could become a massive liability in the worst case scenario) just handed me keys. Fine, whatever. The next morning I waited at the bistro for about 5 minutes with no service. I asked the woman at the desk and she said she’d ring him. Did she not see me standing there waiting all that time? Then I asked for change and she apologized - TO THE BISTRO GUY - for calling him out and making him wait. When I walked back over to the bistro, he was gone again. Despite being the guest, I felt like an inconvenience. Again, whatever. I went up to the desk once or twice more in my stay and at one point the guy told me to come back later because he is new and didn’t know how to do it. (I was simply asking to put one single restaurant charge on a different card.) why is he working the desk alone if he can’t handle simple desk tasks? Instead of learning his new job, him and the also new bistro guy were just sitting around talking. Again fine, whatever. I was willing to forgive all of this but my last straw was when, on my last day, I asked for a bill to the room. The woman at the desk couldn’t help me, but she grabbed someone who could, Natalie. Natalie told me that it would be easier to check me out if I wanted the bill. I told her that I’d still be in the room for about an hour, and I just wanted a print out. She was visibly annoyed! She literally tossed her hands in the air. It’s not like I was asking for anything crazy - literally just a printed copy of my bill. Again, as someone who used to work in hospitality, I know this happens ALL the time. And as a hospitality worker, it is not the guests job to make things easier for you. She replied “I’ll just check you out.” I’m at a loss for words. I receive better hospitality service at a McDonald’s drive thru than from Natalie. I understand it’s not always a great job, but it is still your job. Get a different one if you hate guests so much. For what was spent on this room, the customer service was actually abysmal. That being said - in my week long stay I did have some pleasant staff interaction. Cara in housekeeping left me a kind note and hand sanitizer! A blonde tattooed woman at the bistro was exceptionally kind and understands customer service well. And an Asian woman cleaning the lobby greeted me and seemed genuinely kind. All my other interactions with staff made me feel like nothing more than a bother. For the money paid, at a relatively “nice” hotel, this was a major disappointment.

Overall stay was ok, but lots of room for improvement. At check in I was told that the hotel had just recently reopened and judging by the fact that the last review was from fall 2019, I’m guessing it’s been closed for a bit. Exterior of hotel looks a little worn, but lobby area seems to be updated. They seem to be renovating on the fly, so we encountered some issues. Our first room didn’t have water in the toilet and the turning on water supply didn’t work, so we had to switch rooms. Second room very clean, comfortable and recently updated, but missing a couple details. We didn’t have a garbage can anywhere in room (not even in bathroom), only one bar of soap for both sink and shower, and box springs on bed were exposed with no skirt or frame covering (just looked a little sloppy). But, again, room was clean and comfortable so those were just minor issues. Breakfast was extremely sad. There were very few people staying at the hotel yet everything was pretty cleared out by 8:30. The little eggs and bacon that were left did not look very appetizing, very limited selection of yogurt, cereal, breads. No juice of any kind offered, only coffee, hot water for cocoa and tea and small bottles of warm water. Somehow the room switch showed up as a cancellation on my Marriott account so I didn’t get points for the stay which is also disappointing (credit card charged, but Marriott account lists stay as cancelled). Staff was friendly and lobby/room clean, but seems like place has some kinks to work out, I’d probably give it some time before staying here.

I won't stay here again. Serious problems with the condition of the building, seriously over charging for less than basic rooms (no microwave, stained carpets). Also, it didn't bother me, but there's a significant homeless population living in the hotel and the parking lot. For what they charge for a room, I wonder how the homeless are paying for it......got some guesses. They are also non ADA compliant. The side door key locks don't work and I personally witnessed an employee wtch me walk out a side door nearest to my room, with my service dog, then place a pebble in the jamb so I could easily get back in.....within a minute she kicked my pebble out, limiting the easiest access for me back to my room. I saw her do it and plan on filing an ADA complaint. And I know her name. No elevator. Looks like someone bled out and was dragged out....the main carpets ARE that bad. Definitely not worth the $$, and definitely, almost spitefully, non-ADA compliant. Come on, you know the doors don't work and you kick out my door jamb RIGHT after you see me go out with my service dog? I saw it, because I was less than 20 ft when you did it....because I move slow....with a service dog. Anyway, heard they might be closing, and they should. Someone stopped giving a sh!# about that place long ago. Summary: Don't.
