I visited this restaurant on several occasions while attending a conference in Niigata. It is easy to get to from Toki Messe/Hotel Nikko Niigata. The menus are only available in Japanese but do have pictures (although it is helpful to have a native speaker as not all the choices are illustrated with pictures). I tried the sashimi set (1,200 JPY) and Ikura Don (1,600 JPY) which were both excellent and healthy choices. The food options in Toki Messe/Hotel Nikko itself are limited so this (and other restaurants in the Bandai area) are great alternatives. Be aware that there will likely be a queue for lunch so make sure you get there early to put your name down if it is full.

Read trip advisor and went--thanks to the staff who charged us the wrong amount ... chased after us outside the store and fumbled around for 10 minutes, we missed the train, waited an extra 40 minutes, and consequently the fireworks. I really didn't care what the final amount was. They undercharged us. But get the price right the first time. Really not happy.

This restaurant serves top quality delicious food in Niigata area.Only 5 -10 mintues walk from JR Niigata station to there, easy and convenient.Restaurant are decorated in modern Japanese style, and have been separated into different partitions. You can enjoy sushi and sashimi master working in front of you; or grill and stick grill bar front; or sitting in a private room with friends.Besides the wonderful everyday "sea-catch", serving wonder sashimi and sushi, restaurant are serving excellent quality of grilled fish, no matter charcoal grilled, which makes Kimetai crispy outside, and juicy inside. Or grilled with sauce, which had a wonderful tasty balance and presentations.Overall, this is a 'never-fail' restaurant unless you did reserve table in advanced, it may have chance to turn you down when you do the walk-in.

Although sushi which is rotating is also good, sometimes you order a kind of sushi that are not rotating. The freshness of the neta (fish) is outstanding, going on the ordinary sushi shop.
