Our family of four were in Yuzawa for a few days skiing stayingbat Naspa. But food in Naspa was so-so, catering mainly to its captive market of hotel ski packages so we made plans to dine out every nite. But many restaurants in Yuzawa dont take reservations just walkins but Kamakura does.Abt 100m past the train station but so worth it.It was full on a sunday nite and a few locals were turned away. Lucky we made a reservation via naspa. We ordered almost everything off the menu.We ordered the DIY wagyu beef grilled over a hot stone. It was so good that we wanted a 2nd order but they ran out.The robotaki was well done, smoky and yet still succulent. The copper kettle rice was just niigata rice done plain and simple, u will savour every grain. Rice will never be the same again.Sashimi was as fresh as you can find in japan.Even the humble karaage fried chicken was cracking and yet still juicy inside.Yuzawa may be a small town but it was a croaching tiger hidden dragon in Kamakura. And all that came to just jpy9k. Less than buffet dinner for 1 pax at naspa.

A small linear bar which is crowded when patrons number greater than ten. This makes for a good atmosphere. The speciality is beer; there are about 6-8 on tap. Wine is available on request but extremely limited. The only red available during my visits was a Merlot. [If you have seen the movie "Sideways" you will know about Merlot] I tasted several beers over a couple of nights and enjoyed all. For a spot which is promoting their beers, I thought they were a bit expensive, over !000yen each [about $13AUD] when one can buy a can of Asahi for about 300yen.
