Jamburae Lodge offers comfortable accommodation with a chilled atmosphere right in front of the world-famous surf spot "The Point" in Nias, Indonesia.
We stayed for about 2 weeks in Jamburae Lodge and had one of the best surfing vacations ever! The waves are just out of this world and the people around the whole island are extremely friendly. At the lodge we had absolutely no issues and loved the food and hospitality. Petra and Cite, the owners, were always making sure we had everything we needed and became very good friends of ours! Hope to be back soon.

KabuNohi Sorake Resort is the first upscale resort at the world famous surfing destination of Sorake Beach, Lagundri Bay, Nias, Sumatra, Indonesia. Owners Mark & Debi Flint have created a stunning beachfront tropical oasis for a maximum of 16 guest with an emphasis on high quality service, accommodation and cuisine.
What started out as the trip of a lifetime for my daughter and her cousin soon turned out to be a nightmare. On the third night my daughter and her cousin were asleep in their room which was locked and were awoken by a noise in the early hours to find a shirtless man crouched down next to my daughter's bed rummaging through her personal belonging. On being startled the male has ran from the room stealing $700 of my daughters hard earned savings and $300 of her cousins. The room had no safe so personal items cannot be secured within the rooms. As a result of this my daughter and cousin stayed elsewhere the following night too terrified to return to the same room. The following night they were moved by the owners wife into another room, however were unable to sleep properly for the remainder of the trip too terrified of being robbed again. My daughter and cousin had to use bricks and a chain to keep the room safe and slept with their property on their person and torches in hand every night. There are no security guards at the hotel and the Police say the offender is a recidivist having been to gaol 3 times previously. Thankfully Ben who was staying at the Hotel managed to help my daughter report matter to police after initially being accused of not locking door by owners wife trying to deflect blame onto my 19 year old daughter. The Police then tried to charge my daughter $300 Australian Dollars for the police report!! The owners wife was shown how the flimsy the locks were and agree it was a fault of the hotels. As a result of what happened my daughter does not want to ever travel again terrified that this may happen again and both are still traumatised. Please be aware that this hotel does not have security guards or safes in room so nothing is safe. The only compensation the hotel gave was to reduce the cost of washing by $3.00. Please do not stay at Nias or hotels on island if they do not have security guards or safes in room as it is not safe!! Do not travel alone. On a good note Agus and Dati were beautiful cooks and nightly dinner best part of trip sadly.

Salty Dog Hostel is located on the picturesque palm-fringed white sand beach of Baloho Bay on Nias island. Famed for its world-class surf breaks, magnificent beaches, and phenomenal sunsets, the area is extremely tranquil. For the adventurous traveler on a budget, this is the first official international hostel/backpacker style accommodation made available on Nias equipped with great facilities.
Real cool place and great vibe from Yanis. Cheers for putting us up when ya were under pressure. Great place to stay en route to the Telos. Was a treat to stay there under your hospitality - we will be back.

- Each bagalow has beautiful hand polished timber floors and custom wood furniture . - Each bathroom has a sink, western toilet, mirror, coated shower floor. - Towels are available for all rooms, but we encourage people to bring their own beach towels. - Plugs with adapters for charging electrical devices . - There is a specific area to hang wet clothes, in and out of the bathroom.
We visited Puri Asu earlier this year and were not disappointed. I travel with my wife and over the years we've visited some great camps in Indonesia but we've also endured some bad experiences. Lucky Puri Asu lived up to our expectations (which are pretty normal!). Everything was great - the accommodation was exceptional (superior package) - but the standard accommodation was pretty decent too. The food was some of the best we've had in Sumatra. Possibly the best. Seriously good. The owner Steve was there during part of the trip. Very friendly and helpful. The island itself is incredible and the beach had the most amazing sand I think Ive even touched. Its like a velvet scrub. The snorkeling out the front of the resort was also excellent. There were 2 SUP's to use which also kept the wife busy lol. Again, the reason we stayed was for the surf. The resort is about 5 mins (boat) from an amazing left hander Asu. I'd say an experienced surfer would be most suitable. Definitely no beginners as it only really gets going until its over head. But wow, a great wave and very uncrowded. There arent a tonne of other spots but what the waves are all legit and all uncrowded which is a rare thing these days. We'll return for sure.

Nias Keyhole Surf Camp The guesthouse getaway that’s steps away from legendary Nias The Keyhole Surf Camp is your ideal guesthouse for an ultimate Nias adventure. Enjoy one of seven very clean bedrooms each with private bath, excellent menu packages, numerous leisure amenities, and “keyhole” access to the legendary Nias break is at your doorstep.
Timmy and the keyhole family helped make my stay in Nias exceptionally awesome! I'm far from a good surfer so it was great to get his son Andy to teach me some skills (push me on the waves) For a female travelling to Nias by land solo it was great to be welcomed with open arms by the entire family. Basic rooms and facilities but as good as your going to get on Nias. Most important thing is Timmy's knowledge of everything you need to get the best waves. He is the only one to own charter boat for up to 12 people. So basically he is your Man!

To find a gem like this doesn’t happen without good reviews, normally! However my husband met Gary and Susan by chance at a Gala dinner and the next night we were enjoying their excellent hospitality. Location to the sorake wave was in walking distance and the accommodation and pool the best we’ve experienced in Indonesia. Thanks the Gary and Susan and their extraordinary staff, we will be back.

If you're looking for world class waves without crowds, this area is one of the last places that still delivers. The camp has beautiful rooms with AC, great food, two good tenders and an owner/surf guide who knows when and where to go search for waves elsewhere. All in all, this camp is an absolute gem compared to the overcrowded Ments or the overpriced Telos. The only warning is that if you're looking for head high, gentle waves, then the Hinakos probably aren't your cup of tea.

Dolin Cottage is located in front of Sorake Beach surf point at Lagundry bay in the Botohilisorake, South Nias. The advantages of Dolin Cottage is that all rooms have a very special view so that our guests can watch the surfers and sunrise from the terrace of their rooms. The rooms got private terrace. Our property is built from wood with a natural atmosphere surrounded by forages and even some types of herbs that we can serve to our guest. All units we have are equipped with air conditioning, a fridge and a seating area. The private bathroom is fitted with a shower, toilet seat, towels and toilet roll. This property also is one of the top-rated locations around the bay in Botohili Sorake! Guests are happier about it compared to other properties in the area. This property rated for the best value mean guests are getting more for their money compared to other properties in the Island. To be note that all prices we offer include breakfast.
This small place has only two rooms, but the owners have taken a lot of care to make sure they are well designed and comfortable. Our room was spacious, had the best wifi we got in the whole of Sumatra, and air-con that was strong enough to cool the room quickly. There is also a small fridge, which is handy. The owners were also very friendly and helpful. A simple breakfast was included in our rate and was enough to get you going for the day.

If your after a quiet place away from everyone this is the place to stay. Only 2 rooms so will never be crowded. Rooms are basic indo style with ac. Was $40 aud a night including transfer from airport. Meals are cooked on request. Meals are seperate to accomodation price and are generally a touch dearer than elsewhere. However meals are really good. Balcony has good views with hammock. It is up the point behind the keyhole so cannot see people on the wave. Indicators is pretty much straight out front. Todi is a good host and always happy to help, whether that be chasing waves, sight seeing or general info.
