We dined this day to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were seated at a 2 top next to the window with an ocean view just as I had requested. Our server Erika met us promptly and provided outstanding service with a friendly smile throughout our meal. Never once did she try to rush us as many servers do at other fine restaurants. We enjoyed one of their classic martinis which is served in a large shaker left at your table. We split a Chopped Wedge Salad which was an ample serving. My wife enjoyed the Big Eye Tuna entree and I the Seared Scallops. Our choice of sides included Scalloped Potatoes with Guyere cheese and Roasted Brussel Sprouts. Excellent choices. We topped the evening off with their famous Butter Cake with ice cream and housemade fresh whipped cream. Impeccable service and fine food you cannot go wrong at the Ocean Club.

A group of 8 of us received a frosty welcome on arrival. Pre- set menus had been arranged previously but we needed to change to the main menu as 2 of our party had fish allergies. The manager was very rude to one of our group by putting up her finger and saying shhhh when he spoke. Another of our group ordered calamari as a starter - the portion was huge and we felt that it was the waiter and managerâs way of embarrassing us - luckily he took up the challenge and cleared the lot. The rest of the evening was fine, the waiter gained his composure and began to treat us with respect. The food was amazing but I canât recommend this restaurant because of the rudeness we experienced.

This restaurant is a rare combination of a steakhouse serving prime meat with an excellent variety of seafood options, particularly fish. Really liked the atmosphere. It had a nice vibe to it. Soft shell crab was in season so I started with that. It was delicious! Nice size crab and perfectly prepared. My wife started with the burrata and heirloom tomato salad. A couple of things were wrong here. The burrata was nothing more than mozzarella called burrata. They showed us the product and it did say burrata but more of the commercial mass produced variety. Authentic burrata is a very fresh cheese with an outer mozzarella layer and a soft gooey interior that doesnât have a long shelf live. The other thing was way too many tomatoes in proportion to the amount of burrata included on the dish. But enough of that. We both ordered steaks and they were delicious! Perfectly cooked with excellent flavor! I had a 22 oz rib eye and my wife a 12 oz filet. We sampled each otherâs and both of us really enjoyed each. Btw, the bread served was very fresh, warm and flavorful. Service was attentive, friendly and on point. No room for dessert. We had a wonderful evening and definitely will be back, we just wonât order the burrata salad next time. They did comp us on the salad which we really appreciated. Next time will try a fresh fish!

Itâs a very impressive room with nice atmosphere. The menu has plenty of choice.Food however was just ok.Other than the opera playing in the background it doesnât feel Italian. Waiters werenât Italian. The food whilst Italian by name isnât quite authentic. Everything has a slight twist.Certainly not a bad experience, it ticks a lot of boxes particularly if you havenât been to Italy.

Still wonderful ... BUT:* GONE is that incredible Reuben Sandwich (I know it is primarily a seafood restaurant but if you ever had that Reuben you might say otherwise),* GONE is the Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay (the very hard-to-find Russian River version) that was sooooo exceptionally great at any price, and* GONE is that wonderful seating area that was right in front of the bar ... the seating area with THE most commanding view of the Newport Harbor of any restaurant there, and* GONE is "John", their exceptionally personable and concerned manager (he left for the right reason: retirement ... but as nice as their management is, we still miss him). "Jaime", a server assistant who has been there for over 30 years, is still doing everything he can to make your dining experience good. The "bar menu" is wonderful and all of the items on it are as dependable as they are delicious. But ask for the Crab Cake to be cooked maybe 30 seconds longer so as to enjoy it with a bit more "crisp" finish. It may look a little burned, but it is in looks only ... not the exceptional flavor. And Newport Landing makes them fresh ... they do not buy them from a supplier.Given the fact that they no longer serve Sonoma Cutrer, we bring our own wine. But I think a $15 corkage fee is exorbitant considering there's no effort in opening a screw-top bottle and they do not provide any "wine management" in its serving. And for those of you who might say "screw top wine and you are complaining about a corkage fee" I say do the math. Ten seconds to open and serve a glass is one heck of an hourly rate, let alone service surcharge. I know they are trying to make up for their lost profit on the wine but geeeeez.Newport Landing is still our go-to restaurant in Newport Beach. But gone are some of the things that made it really really exceptional.

Dining at this Italian restaurant post-Christmas was stirring. Have dined here with friends and family and for special occasions---past 10 years---conjured up warm memories. Rothschild's has operated in this location since 1977 and is Zagat rated. Owner/Executive Chef is Frank Fassero-Reiss. Seating was in the wine cellar and offered lovely views of swaying Palm trees and avian visitors outside. Wine glasses are etched with an âRâ and our table was covered in linen and entrée was served on China. Hand-crafted fettucine was âexceptionalâ and having an early lunch was perfect for conversations on âcurrent events" from "The L.A. Times."Parking is located in the back of the restaurant and is complimentary. Rich mahogany and fine oil paintings decorate the classic interior of Rothschild's. Overall the experience was nothing lacking in the culinary department. Wild Salmon is âmeilleur culinaire.â Gracie Frank!

Nice views, great service and incredible awesome fish tacos. I tried the salmon taco, Mahi taco, and the lobster one... I would never say that out of Mexico I would enjoy tacos, but fish quality was so good.Things to improve, the âtortillasâ should be better (classical corn ones)

If you are a fan of the stark minimalist trend then this is the spot for you. Gone is the tropical vibe we lived replaced by white plastic. Very noisy and bright. Good music however. And the food is excellent. Maybe better for lunch than a romantic dinner! Use to be one of our local favorites.l but not so much now!

You have to wonder where the Hillstone Restaurant Group (Gulfstream, Bandara, Cafe R&D, Houstonâs, Honor Bar, Rutherford Grill, etc.) finds so many clean, well groomed, educated, clear speaking, piercingless, tattooless, fresh scrubbed young people to work in their establishments. The food is amazing, but I find it fascinating to watch these beautiful, polite, energetic, young men and women, and doing so renews my faith in the younger generation. My hat is off to Hillstone for teaching these young folks and helping them along their way in life.
