Rude

Reviewed By Jessica T

It was a lovely sunny day and we got the train into lakeside. Hoping to get a drink & some food over looking the lake we walked into the garden. We stood by the door waiting for a staff member for at least 5 minutes as we didn’t want to be rude and just sit down. Everybody ignored us so we had a little walk down to the water for 10 minutes and then came back up and just sat at a table. As soon as we sat down a lady came and told us in a very rude way, that they do not serve food to non residents and we can’t sit there as this is a residents only garden, we could sit at the back of the building in the shade. Now, after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor this was a saving grace.

We have stayed at the Whitewater Hotel on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant is very good and the rooms we have stayed in are very spacious. Parts of the hotel are in need of minor refurbishment, but saying that we are about to book another stay. The hotel is situated so exploring the south lakes and surrounding areas are easily accessible.

Carley at The Newby Bridge

Carvery was fantastic, choice of 5 meats or for the big appetites all 5. Staff was nice, and the surroundings lovely. Couldn’t get to the puddings but they looked and sounded utterly Devine. If we had a place like this in our village in the Midlands, Sundays would be taken up every week

Comfortable rooms, great scenery, friendly staff

Reviewed By Meekered

I've stayed in many guest houses over the years and this one is packed with character and located in stunning scenery right at your doorstep. The gentleman who welcomed us in was very friendly. The room was comfortable and importantly, the mattress not soggy either! The only bugbear I have, is that they do not offer a cooked breakfast. Aside from that, I would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Overall disappointing

The room itself was stunning but it was a little tired. The cushions and sofa were stained and need a deep clean or reupholster. The TV wasn't working and couldn't be fixed during our stay we waited around for someone to come back but they never showed up. Dinner was nice if not overpriced for what it was and the staff were lovely but drinks arrived after the dinner because it was so slow. The new spa is gorgeous and definitely recommend. We've visited twice now and although it was nice both times there were always things wrong or dissapointents that wouldn't make it worth the price. Definitely be cautious of their Instagram and Facebook competitions as they were fake. The staff created accounts and would be their winners, seems disingenuous and has been the cherry on top of me probably not returning.
