Beautiful gem of a hotel close to Highclere Castle, so perfect if you’re planning a visit there. Comfortable rooms decorated beautifully. Very friendly helpful staff. The breakfast was super tasty and we ate in the restaurant which I can highly recommend…especially the lamb cutlets! Gorgeous place and would definitely stay again….and it’s dog friendly so even better!

Re-launching as a House, pub and garden. Five boutique rooms. A bar, saloon, snug, pantry and dining room. A garden with outdoor dining and garden huts for hire. The Dolphin will be a centre for artistic entertainment in Newbury where we create a calendar of classes, challenges and parties ... life should never be dull. We'll release the details closer to the opening. Hotel guests will be reminded of staying at a friends house. Coffees, papers, books, dining companions, entertainment are all part of your room charge and are available in the pub as we want you to come and chat with us! The design is light and airy with quirky furniture in a traditional space so guests can be as formal or as relaxed as they choose. The menu focuses on fresh grilled food giving a brasserie style, with excellent weekend brunches alongside classic and light lunches with daily specials complementing the dinners.
Went to a birthday do which was great. The pub is nicely spacious and has a nice little garden at the back. Decor is nice too. I didn't stay overnight so can't comment on the rooms, only the pub and the garden.

Stayed one night Saturday 7th May. Enjoyed a delicious evening meal, in a really cosy restaurant area. The Carpenters Burger and the fish and chips were divine. Good selection of beer. The rooms are separate to the pub in a peaceful house. Our room was spacious with a en-suite (unfortunately the shower was not working but we managed for one night and they were very apologetic). Everyone we spoke to was so friendly and helpful. If going to Oxford or visiting the magnificent Highclere castle which is just about 5 minutes away, make sure you stop here!

I stayed here recently just for one night. Lovely old inn with friendly staff. My room was very small, no hanging room for my clothes but it was clean and very quiet during the night so I got a great night sleep. No tea/coffee in the room but you could go downstairs in the morning to make it but I found this a bit of a faff. The pub downstairs was great with superb food.

The Furze Bush Inn lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty just four miles from Newbury Town Centre, with the inns various dining areas , whatever the weather there’s a perfect place to eat either inside in the restaurant or bars or alfresco on the outside restaurant terrace or in the gardens. The menus are a mix of modern international cooking and traditional English pub food featuring authentic far eastern dishes which are a specialty of the inn's head chef. Prices at the Furze Bush Inn are very reasonable and there are no obligatory service charges it’s possible to get a three course meal for well under £20 and difficult to spend more than £30 on food. Their carefully chosen wine list features many well known winemakers but the House Wines are excellent Chilean Reds and Whites which at just £12.95 are superb value for money. For the beer drinker they’ve always a wide choice of draught lagers, stout, ciders and of course well kept real ales. The Furze Bush Inn is open for lunches and dinners every day from noon til 2.30pm and from 6pm until 9.30pm, they serve food all day at weekends and on Bank Holidays. The Bars are open all day every day. If you’ve imbibed slightly more than you intended or just don’t fancy driving home, they may have a room available in their 3 starred hotel with all rooms air conditioned and en-suite. They serve a delicious full English breakfast which is included in the room rate. If you’ve never visited The Furze Bush Inn, i'ts quite easy to find, signposted off the A343 Andover road just outside Newbury. If you're travelling from further afield take the Highclere and Wash Common exit from the A34, turn left towards Newbury and you’ll see the signpost just after the humpback bridge.
The Furze Bush Inn laid on a work party for us last week and they were fantastic. Great personal service and the staff keen to make everything right for us from planning beforehand to the right delicious food for each gust. Would recommend - delivered exactly what we had promised our guests ✅?

Seen the Greek Table at the Bacon and thought we’d give it a try. Food was delicious and we couldn’t fault anything. They are doing a great job and we will definitely be returning for more. Would recommend to anyone to try this Greek cuisine and they would be taken by surprise.

I was expecting a smart boutique hotel, I got a sticky grimy pub masquerading as a smart hotel. The website promises stylish, comfortable rooms what you get is a pokey room, with bad lighting, a lot of noise from the kitchen extractor fan which roars all day until the kitchen closes. Dirty net curtains, dirty curtains and a dusty room. 1 teabag, UHT milk, no water glass, peeling wallpaper and grubby carpets. It's trying hard but just doesn't reach the standard the website projects. The staff were polite but in a surly way expect one waitress who was delightful, they all looked how I felt, wishing they were somewhere else! I changed my room on arrival but the replacement wasn't a lot better just brighter. The lighting is harsh, the blinds on the windows are a joke and full of dust. Outside my window on the roof of the pub below were numerous cigarette butts presumably from other guests who couldn't be bothered to walk down to the uninspiring back garden to enjoy the view of the Royal Mail building, noisy busy road and the company of the noisy and somewhat unprepossessing clientele. The menu is limited and the food often badly cooked although the breakfasts were good, however I object to paying £95 for a room including breakfast only to find this consists of cereal, juice and dry croissants. The cooked breakfast is around £10 more although it was tasty. I was looking forward to a haven of relaxation at the end of 4 busy days and ended up praying for night when I could sleep. If I hadn't been so tired I would have checked out and gone elsewhere.
