Whirlpool in the room had floating debris including hair and what looking like semen. Shuttle drive reeked of POT and was very late picking us up. Bed sagged to the middle. Room was cheap motel quality, not $150 3-star hotel quality.

It is a basic business hotel suitable for between flight meetings or the night before a flight. Nothing special but it is clean. The restaurant is pitiful. Very limited options both food and drink. Unless you are desperate, take an Uber into Newark. The gym is also worthless. Great for a quick sleepover but otherwise? Not so special

After a long flight, enjoy a hearty meal at Aviation Grill and then rest in our large hotel rooms with plush bedding, sparkling bathrooms, and floor-to-ceiling windows with great views. I had a 2 week stay at this Marriott at Newark Airport both in May and June. Everyone I encountered were professional and nice .. I was greeted and thanked for being a Platinum member. I wasn't offered nor upgraded for either week I spent here but it wasn't a big deal. Rooms are decent in size but the bathrooms are on the small side. Windows must be soundproof because in the 2 weeks during my stay I didn't hear the planes landing nor taking off. Location is literally a 5 minute walk thru the parking garage in Terminal C .. once you go thru the garage the hotel is right in front.; you then cross 2 lightly trafficked streets you are at the hotel. A shuttle bus does come around but it's quicker walking if you don't have heavy luggage. I would have given this hotel 5 stars but housekeeping was inconsistent ... 2 days I returned at 4 pm and the room wasn't serviced. And 2 other days I returned and they left the garbage behind and they didn't replace the bottled water nor the coffee pods. I had a great stay otherwise but the room service issue needs to be addressed. Grubhub, Dominoes, and Instacart deliver to the hotel. Otherwise your other food options are the hotel restaurant ..

I checked into the Hilton last night, and I was greeted by Catherine at the front desk. She brought Joy to my heart after a long day of travel. She recommended a great Filipino restaurant across the street in which I was able to grab some hot fresh food and bring it back to my hotel.. today she helped me with something else. I think that the staff here at the front desk, at the restaurant, and in housekeeping is absolutely amazing!

I’m writing this review to complain specifically about one staff member Nida Fatima. We had reservations made for 5 rooms since we were a party of 20 travelling from Canada with children one of which has Autism and Down syndrome. At 4pm on the Friday before our checking checking in she called us asking if we required all 5 room since they had over booked the hotel, which we told her yes we do! She took it upon herself to cancel two of the room. Upon our arrival she was obnoxious and harsh. No compassion at all that we had travelled 9 hours with kids at that too one with Down syndrome. This review is not about the quality and f the hotel but specifically about the customer service and how they took it upon themselves to cancel our room and not provide us with any other alternatives or help. We were left distraught, anguished and horrified at this service. Please springhill suites you can do better! Please hire staff who are competent and know how to problem solve! This is unacceptable!

At the DoubleTree by Hilton Newark Penn Station hotel, travel is easy and convenient- allowing our guests to focus on business or leisure activities. The hotel is located in the heart of the historic downtown Newark Business District and is attached to Newark Penn Station where guests can easily access Manhattan via NJ Transit, Amtrak and Path Subway in 20 minutes. Only 15 minutes from Newark Liberty International Airport, our complimentary shuttle service is available 24 hours a day.
I periodically fly to Newark to visit our plant in Kearny. I had been staying in Harrison, but decided to try a different place this trip. I had a king on the 5th floor that was nice, but the bathroom is very small and hard to negotiate around the door (pictures of the bedroom and bathroom are attached). A picture out the window toward PennStation is also attached. I didn’t eat at the on-site restaurant but added a picture. A picture of the lobby is also attached. Parking is in a attached but separate public parking garage. Be sure to get the parking ticket validated at the front desk. The people working here were very friendly and helpful.

I travel the Jersey quite frequently for work and usually change up where I stay just to get a feel for the different areas around the airport. This time around I decided I'd stay at this location since it's in downtown Newark. My thought process was that being in downtown I'd have access to a lot of eateries, bars, etc.....typical of what you'd find in most downtowns of major cities......oh was I wrong.... If you don't already know, Newark is not exactly a bustling/thriving metropolitan. It's more like a haven for homeless people. It's basically a ghetto. Everything shuts down at night so my plan to hit some hip eateries or catch a couple of cocktails in the evening didn't happen and even if I wanted to there'd be a good chance I'd get robbed or assaulted. When you walk into the building the actual check in lobby is on the 2nd floor so you need to either take the stairs or ride the elevator up from the 1st floor lobby. 1st Floor lobby when you walk in smelled like urine so that already was a bad sign. Check in was pretty standard....attendant was neither rude nor cordial but rather robotic. I kind of got the feeling that they didn't exactly enjoy their job....but in their defense I find this to be pretty much the norm with hotels in the US. No mention or appreciation towards elite guests (I'm a Platinum Member) so if you expect anything extra for being elite don't plan on it here. The rooms, or at least my room, was modern and looked to be updated. This was probably the only redeeming part of the stay. Nice big flatscreen with internet tv and a comfortable bed. Another rarity was that the AC worked extremely well. So much so that I actually had to turn it off a few times since it got so cold. That's a good thing because I like my rooms cold. Internet was just plain awful. Even me being on the enhanced internet plan didn't do much. Outside of basic surfing and emails it was unusable. Streaming any sort of content was a task. This also translated to the internet tv they had. Everything was running as slow as molasses. Took forever to get a movie going on Netflix or to watch a video on Youtube. Iron Bound District is about a 15 - 20 minute walk away which is good. It's the Portuguese neighborhood and has loads of really good Portuguese and Brazilian restaurants. If you walk there I suggest either doing it during the day or taking a ride share for safety reasons but if at night I'd definitely stick with ride sharing it. Oh, and the free shuttle to the airport sucks. When I arrived I called the hotel from the airport to ask about the shuttle and was told to take the air train to P4 where hotel shuttles pick up guests. I was told the shuttle runs every half hour starting from the top of the hour. Stood at the stop at 5:15 expecting it to show up at 5:30.....nope never showed up. Meanwhile every other hotel shuttle passed by...sometimes twice! By 5:50 I called again and the desk claimed the shuttle was there at 5:30. I said no it wasn't cause I was there. Finally after my call all of the sudden the shuttle appears a little after 6. Obviously cause I called and basically complained. So when I left to the airport on my departure day I didn't even bother and took a Lyft ride. So yeah over all aside from the room itself I thought the hotel was pretty lackluster. Especially for the amount you pay. You would be better off staying at one of the other Marriott properties in Elizabeth Town near the mall. They are much newer and cheaper. Also, skip the Courtyard that's almost directly across from the airport. It's old as hell and just dumpy in general.

On paper this hotel has everything that should be great. They have a lovely looking restaurant with stylish decorations in the hotel. Also the place is relatively affordable and well located in the NY metro area. Unfortunately there were two places where the hotel dropped the ball. I believe having a mini fridge is standard. I don't even look for them on the list of amenities because every hotel has them. More importantly we requested months ahead of time for a crib for our baby. The hotel said they had a broken one and their sister hotel also had a broken one. We would have been good with a pack and play but the hotel never got back to us. We talk to a different front desk rep everyday but then gave up because no one could help us. I do not like to pay money so that my baby can sleep on the floor because the hotel can't provide a safe place for him to sleep. I am not usually fussy. This is my first bad review of a hotel ever. There was so much potential but I would definitely not recommend.

Our pet-friendly hotel is located less than a mile from Newark Liberty International Airport, and New York City is just a 15-minute drive away. Nearby attractions include The Ironbound District and Downtown Newark, only two and half miles away and The Mills at Jersey Garden, only 5 minutes from our hotel. We offer complimentary, on-demand shuttles for easy access to and from the airport. Enjoy our great amenities including free breakfast and WiFi, business center and access to our 24-hour fitness center.
Seems clean. Very friendly staff, but they must be busy/understaffed because it is very difficult/impossible to get hold of anybody at the front desk over the phone (whether from the hotel room phone or from external phone). I would have given a 2-stars only, but then they let us check out later to accommodate a meeting, so I added an extra star for that.

The previous person who said this place should be condemned said it right. By the time they spend the money to correct all that this places needs, even if just to a level as essential for safety, it would be more financially viable to raze it to the ground and start again. When I asked if I could have a room that didn’t lead to the many poor reviews that came before (showing the TripAdvisor screen to them), especially about the bed bugs, they said “yeah, it’s pretty bad, but it’ll be good once done”. This lead the last drop of hope that this wasn’t going to be the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at diminish. Thank goodness I only had to endure less than 12hrs here. Did get to use the fitness room before showering in water I’m not clear if made me more or less clean than I started and it was no surprise that both elliptical trainer and stepper were very broken yet still available for use. It stinks of smoke along the second floor corridor heading to the back of the hotel, near where the staff and laundry rooms are positioned. Very glad there wasn’t a restaurant to eat in, but there is a convenience store on site and it does look well stocked with the basics, including cleaning products. Shame the hotel don’t purchase them for use. The worst part about the stay….was the noise!! Wasn’t sure if dodgy AC units or that the room was next door to a lorry park where at volume you can hear a constant drone of engines. Even wearing ear plugs to sleep and with a pillow over my head, it did little to reduce the volume or stop the vibrations that come with such noise. And finally to the couple that were in the room next door who came in to argue late in the night. Adding a serious level of volume to the TV was almost considerate as an effort to drown you out, but clearly you don’t need to hide tearing strips off your partner who booked this hotel; we were all fooled. Wish I’d slept in the Terminal.
