Forever remembered for its "The Lord of the Rings" legacy, New Zealand’s landscapes are deserving of their big screen fame—think lush rolling hills, volcano-sculpted moonscapes, UNESCO-listed glaciers, and white-sand beaches. Cities like Auckland, Wellington, and Queenstown follow suit, with photo-worthy scenery and a laid-back vibe.

We spent 4 wonderful nights here. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The cottage exceeded our pretty high expectations - we didn’t want to leave! 10/10 for cleanliness and facilities. So cosy and the mountain views are amazing. We’ll very happily stay here again when we’re visiting Te Anau. We were delighted with this place!

We stayed in Ahu Ahu Beach Villas for two nights. I wished I could stay longer! Beautiful scene and quiet environment. One minute walk to the beach and it is safe for kids. I like the style of the villa, relaxing atmosphere with stunning sea views.

Really well hidden gem. Property is very well looked after, good space for two of us, we couldn’t find any faults at all. Pretty cosy chalets inside out, was very quiet despite being Easter weekend. Place is within couple of minutes from town centre, recommended.

The Factory offers luxury accommodation in an historic building on the beachfront at Hapuku. Here, you can relax in peace and privacy with views of the ocean on one side and stunning snow-capped mountains on the other. Hapuku is less than 10 minutes drive from Kaikoura which is famous for its amazing marine wildlife. The Factory offers exclusive use of the guest wing and is perfect for couples, families or small groups of friends.
Everything about The Factory is just gorgeous - from the stunning setting sandwiched between moody mountains and the everchanging surf beach - lie in bed or on the comfy loungers and listen to waves, tui & bellbirds - to the perfect decor along with a character building with an interesting history... Add in wonderful hosts who go above and beyond to ensure you have a great stay, and all I can say is what a winner. So lucky that we can get in the car and drive here in a couple of hours! Thanks so much team Factory - pleasure to meet you. We'll be back!

Originally built in the 1930's Top of the Town has been lovingly renovated to a very high standard. It has a very spacious garden with ample off-street parking for boats and cars. The rooms are beautifully decorated and include TVs, fridges, microwaves, tea and coffee, bathrobes, irons and ironing board. There is ample outdoor patio spaces for guests to enjoy with room 4 having its own secure outdoor patio ideal for dogs. Tracee and Bryan are the owners of the property and live on-site with their dog and two cats. Tracee manages the property and looks forward to meeting you and making your stay at Top of the Town an enjoyable one. The property was being run as a B and B with an offsite manager. They have changed this to 3 boutique hotel-style rooms. The hotel is also pet-friendly. Originally from Auckland, they moved to what they call their paradise in May 2019 after purchasing Top of the Town and are enjoying living in Picton immensely. Owners double vaccinated.
Love the look of the 1930's property. The way it's been tastefuly restored is at the owner's credit. Our room was well set out, all amenities covered. After spending 2 days travelling from Kerikeri to Greymouth, we arrived in Picton late at night due to the ferry being delayed in Wellington and Tracee met us out the front. It's good to find somewhere like this that's pet friendly.

Patons Rock Beach Villas offer a self check in private accommodation. Fully self contained and serviced daily, they are an ideal choice for the discerning holiday maker looking for something more than a motel room. With only 4 spacious 2-bedroom villas, surrounded in gardens and located well off the road, you will feel like you have the whole place to yourselves. Sun and garden views from every window. We are just a few minutes walk from Patons Rock beach, one of Golden Bays safest swimming beaches.
Lovely surroundings, short walk to the beach, great standard of accommodation - we really loved our 3 nights here and would love to return as we didn't get to do all we wanted to. Pupu Springs, Wainui Falls, grove walk, Farewell Spit tour all highlights. Enjoyed the Wholemeal cafe in Takaka - several times!

Quality boutique accommodation with a 4.5 star rating. Wonderful location being only 50 metres from The Town Square, 100 metres from cafes, restaurants and bars. Villas and Spa Bath Suites with quality furnishings and fittings. King beds throughout. Smart TVs, and FREE WIFI.
Great location and excellent communication but unfortunately not great wheelchair accessibility (had to go round the back and across gravel to get to ramp for access). Had some nice features but we thought it was a bit of a stretch to call it luxury accommodation (compared to anywhere else in NZ we have stayed).

Great place to stay, friendly owner, room very clean and tidy, close enough to Franz Joseph centre but far enough to be surrounded by a semi rural setting, saved our day when a near by air bnb double booked. Lots to do and see in the area, highly recommend a helicopter ride!

Cottages have leather recliner chairs, comfortable beds, fridge/freezer, microwave, DVD players, SKY TV and aircon/heat pump unit. The two bedroom cottage has two ensuites, oven, gas hob, dishwasher, washing machine, a super king bed and a king size bed. One bedroom cottage has king bed in bedroom and bed sofa/mattresses available for lounge (extra charge). All units have air conditioning. On site outdoor seasonal swimming pool to enjoy (unheated).
Thanks Carol. The King Studio was perfect for us as a base for two days visiting friends in the area. Warm, comfortable, good bed, en-suite that worked and kitchen bits that were ideal for two people. It was a good place to return to after a day away. We will return. Neil.
