La Casa Latina is a tapas bar in Westbury, NY serving Spanish and Latin fusion dishes made from scratch straight out of the kitchen!
You definitely feel like you are on vacation when you dine in this little Mexican restaurant. Right off Old Country Road inside a strip mall location with lots of other options to dine but choose this restaurant, you won't be disappointed. Disregard the other reviews about slow service. They worked out that kink! Their drinks are much better now but my only complaint is that a mojito is $12? What is this place a cruise ship or Manhattan? My Modelo beer was $6...tolerable. Our entrees were well prepared, nicely seasoned and quite tasty! The best excitement was the Mariachi 4 guy band that entertained the entire restaurant. The tequila shooter girl(or lady in correct political terms) was very nice when we asked to take her picture. She thought we were asking her to take our picture instead. A great place to have your weekly date night and especially on Cinco de Mayo! Happy Eating and I'll see ya around the table but make a reservation first because this place does get crowded on the weekends:-)

While they seated are party of 12 fairly quickly, we found the place to be very disappointing. They did provide tortilla chips and made the guacamole tableside, and that was good. But after we ordered, it took a very long time to get food. Then they brought out 7 meals. Took about 15 minutes for 3 more meals to come out. Then about 10 minutes later 2 more meals, and then finally the last one-which was fruit nachos so not sure why that took so long. The music was way too loud. The waiter only served our food but did little else. The two people who ordered salads were very disappointed. All shredded iceberg, the radishes had black spots on them, the chicken would have been completely tasteless if it didn't have grill marks. The other salad was spinach but not good spinach, with a little pineapple and mango. Those 2 left hungry. They wouldn't do 2 separate checks, which was very difficult for out party. They wouldn't accept two payments for the check. And it was all very expensive. A plate with a piece of pork, mashed plantains and cooked spinach, was $25. All in all not a great experience. Would not go back.

Very little of the food is actually custom prepared. By the nature of the menu, it is all done in advance and cannot be customized. Quality is variable- pernil, for example, can be delicious or overly fatty, depending on the luck of the scoop. Recently we had yucca fries that were not properly trimmed, and were partially inedible. If there is a band, as there often is, you will not be able to hear your conversation anyplace in the large restaurant- they are overmiked and not pleasant to listen to. That said, some of the food is very good for its genre, so add a star if you like Cuban food and own a pair of earplugs.Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! It's disappointing we were not able to exceed your expectations. We offer a variety of dishes and sides for customization, and very much appreciate the chance to remake a dish if there's anything we can do to make your meal more enjoyable. We hope you'll come enjoy another Cuban meal with us again soon. Again thank you.Kylene S., Guest Relations Manager

After seeing this place for a few years everyday while passing it on my way home, I decided why not.??I was happy with the meal I ordered, which was the combo of a quesadilla, a chimi and a chicken tamale with beans and rice. nice flavors...only gripe is the chimi could have had a bit more meat inside but yummy none the less...the chips and salsa were fresh and yummy as well....the salsa sits somewhere between hot and medium..nice flavor and easy to eat it all...the staff were all pleasent and helpful as well...it is a bit on the small side so it can fill up quick...A great find that I have blown off for way too long until now...i will be coming back to try more of this good Mexican food....you should try it as well

We used to eat here years ago, but we stopped for some reason. But recently, it came to mind so we decided to have dinner there. Iâm glad we did.The place is not too big. Itâs tight, and itâs always crowded. It hasnât really changed much since the last time I was here years ago. Feels almost like a diner. Service was really good. The food is excellent I had the mountaineer platter, which is chiccarones(?), steak, fried egg, avocado, sweet plantains...all over white rice and beans. My wife had the whole fried snapper, which was very crispy, but the fish was not over cooked. We shared a half pitcher of sangria. They donât put ice to fill it up. So for a half pitcher, it gave about 6 glasses. Very tasty, and not diluted at all. Will definitely be going back!
