Please donât judge the book by the cover here. The outside is just a plain brick building that is not impressive at all. When you walk in it is warm and cozy with a decor of Mexico. It is small, but really cute -about 10 tables and four booths. There is also a small bar.The menu has a very wide selection of choices in what you can expect in a Mexican restaurant. We were met with a friendly server and brought fresh made chips and salsa (delicious) to the table while our drink order was taken. Then our order was put in and our appetizer came out within 5 minutes.About 10 minutes after our four dinners arrived. Everyone was going on about how good their food was. We all ate our fill of the generous portions. We will be returning for another wonderful mean in the near future.I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood for authentic Mexican food!!

We wanted an authentic Mexican restaurant. This had been around a while but we had never tried it. After hearing a friend of mine rave about it, we stopped in tonight. The food was absolutely amazing... from the homemade salsa to the traditional refried beans and rice sides. I left so full and happy.

It was one of the best steaks I have had. The burrito and cheesecake were also tasty. The tables are a bit cramped.

We wanted a quick snack before getting on the Thruway and Taco Bell was convenient. The tacos were very good and visible full. The cinnamon twists (dessert) were a delightful tasty treat. We all loved them. They have a $1 menu with about 10 selections. Senior Citizens get a complimentary beverage too. We will return!
I really enjoy the food. The ingredients were fresh and the service was friendly. However, the cleanliness of the restaurant needs some attention. The trash cans were over flowing. The restroom( ladies) has no toilet paper and needed to be refreshed. The booths needed to be wiped down as well. I'm not sure if we were in between shifts or that they were short staffed. I will return though
Carmelita's was written up in our local paper as a new Mexican restaurant in Cicero. We were in the area and wanted to try their food . Our area does not have many memorable Mexican places, this may be a new place to satisfy our Mexican food cravingWe stopped in the afternoon. They have quite a few tables and, it looks like a large take out business. They also have some outside seating. It was a little busy when we walked in. But slowly cleared out.My wife has some food allergies and she asked the waitress about some items, The waitress went and got the (manager, owner?). She does the cooking, so ingredients were no problem. She was extremely helpful. My wife got the Burrito without the tortilla shell, in a bowl, with chicken, beans cheese and tortilla chips. My wife calls it a naked burrito. She loved the combination.I had the Teresita's chicken Ensalada. Layers of rice, shredded chicken, chipotle sauce topped with field greens, black beans tomatoes, and cheese with tortilla chips. It was also very good. Most entrees have a lunch sized and dinner sized portion. We had the lunch portion. The prices are reasonable and the friendliness of the restaurant staff will insure that we will be back, again.
