Weary from that long train ride out or stuck in traffic coming from NYC? What's better than Pork Fried Rice, dumplings, chicken and broccoli and a bottle of white on the screened in porch? Nothing overly complex, special OR disappointing about this place. Hits the spot.

I was quite surprised to find this restaurant. My wife and I miss the sit down Chinese food places and we dont like the buffet scene. Food was decent. They have Chinese, Japanese and Thai. We stuck with the Thai and Chinese parts of the menu. The place was clean. The food seemed fresh. My seafood curry had real lobster in it. We usually frequent a take out place closer to home, but when we want to "go out", we will definitely give this one another try. Oh and it was not too salty. There also was a steady stream of take out orders leaving the kitchen, so you know the food is fresh. Carvel is in the next shopping center down. So make a date out of it.

Most decent seeming place for lunch while doing errands in this town. Chinese management. Well appointed, spacious restaurant. Graciously turned down sound system. Standard Japanese fare. Decent shumai (probably frozen), good sized portion of edamame. Sushi assortment all fresh, reasonable size portions. Green tea served lukewarm. Table soy sauce had slightly peculiar taste (low sodium).

May Garden Restaurant is one of the Mastic/Shirley iconic businesses. It has been in existence since the opening of the Southport Shopping Center in Shirley and has offered a unique experience to Cantonese style and Szechuan style Asian foods. There is no shortage of good Asian style of Chinese style take out restaurants in my neighborhood. There are many very good ones and many that open and close within a year simply because they offer nothing but the ordinary. May Garden has maintained an excellent variation of menu items as well as subtle seasoning changes to keep up with the growing fusion method of cooking and still somehow remain traditional. Their General Tso's Chicken Combination is still by far the best in town. Sometimes their prices are a little higher but you get what you pay for. In all the years that I have been using this restaurant, I have never been disappointed. They will continue to stay on my must use regularly list.

Tried the restaurant for a change from the one I've been going to. The food is good and plentiful. The cost is the same as most Chinese resaurants. There are two tables to sit but not really set up as a sit down restaurant. There is plenty of spaces to park.

Food quality is very good. Average prices. Since my last review of a different Chinese restaurant, i found this restaurant. First thing I noticed once is one of the cooks, while cooking, took a sample of some food cooking, and ate it himself. Hey if it's good enough for him, must be good quality. Kitchen area is clean. Food is tasty. One night, I ordered late, and they stayed open until I picked up my food. On another occasion, I picked up just before closing time, and i saw one worker moping the floor in the customer area, very impressive, confirms my assessment that it is a clean and sanitary place.
