Athos was voted one of the 50 Best Greek Restaurants in America by The National Herald. Casually elegant, Athos serves only the very freshest seasonal ingredients, lovingly brought together using time-honored recipes and techniques, like clay pot cooking,
Elegant upscale Greek establishment with excellent service and cuisine. Delicious Athos salad with Bibb lettuce, strawberries, onions, feta and pistachios; Saganaki, grilled octopus, and smashingly fresh dolmathes (no trace of that sickly pickled taste that sabotages most versions). For the entrees, fabulous yiouvetsi with lamb shank and grilled lamb chops. Excellent overall.

My friend suggested that we dine at Barcelona's. I had never heard of it before. It is a lovely cozy restaurant located on Western Avenue in Albany by the SUNY campus. It has a Mediterranean ambiance. From the outside it is not impressive but once I walked inside the simple tasteful decor caught my attention. The staff was very attentive. There was a small bar which was busy. It had a romantic charming atmosphere. The menu had a nice variety of choices and dinner for two was $60. For dinner I had the seafood Alfredo's which was delicious. The portion size was perfect. I must confess I ate the entire dish. The fish in the dish was cooked to perfection. My drink from the bar was perfect as was the service. We skipped dessert because we were too full but a couple at an adjacent table had dessert that looked yummy. I will definitely return to Barcelona's. There is a parking lot and we did make a reservation which I would suggest.

Mazadar serves Mediterranean Food in the Greater Albany New York area.
I was up in town doing some shopping with my son who's attending college in the area. Mazadar is located across from the Kohl's in Colonie. The description online was Mediterranean which is a family favorite. The menu is actually largely derived from Afghani food and was OUTSTANDING. I had the Chicken Kofta wrap, my son had the Beef Kofta Skewer. Both were very fresh and you could taste the freshness and authenticity. All the entrees are served with your choice of three sauces, a white sauce, a hot sauce and a SUPER delicious cilantro sauce. I'll be back and recommend you visit here. Also they grub hub so we'll be sending food to school when the cafeteria gets old

We had a terrific meal, in a very relaxing environment tonight. They have a new menu that is pleasing. Some of my favorites are gone, but they are considering bringing some things back.
