The population was 16,473 at the 2010 census. The word Greenbush is derived from the Dutch het groen bosch, referring to the pine woods that originally covered the land. The first settlement of the land now known as East Greenbush was made by tenants under patroon Kiliaen van Rensselaer circa 1630. The town was established in 1855 as Clinton, and was renamed in 1858. It is mostly suburban along its major highways and rural in the southwestern and northeastern corners.

Great Italian restaurant in Albany. We went here with a party of 7 for Easter dinner. The food was absolutely excellent and the service was amazing. Every one of us enjoyed their meals. Our waitress, Shani, could not have been friendlier or more efficient. She is by far the best server we have had in a long time anywhere. I was also here a couple of months ago with some other couples. We had great food and service then too. I will be back!

Great Italian restaurant in Albany. We went here with a party of 7 for Easter dinner. The food was absolutely excellent and the service was amazing. Every one of us enjoyed their meals. This diner is a great stopping point between Pittsfield and Albany. We were returning home from a performance at Barrington Stage and wanted a light dinner. We were pleasantly surprised by the food and friendliness of this restaurant and will surely stop again In the future.
