My Saugerties friends like the $9.99 lunch buffet but we managed to go on the one day they don't offer it (Tuesday) so we ordered off the menu, which they had initially said they found expensive (eh, soup, $6). I'm used to NY--I thought it was pretty cheap--lots of dishes for around $13, chutney was additional 2, raita an additional 3. We had rather leathery aloo paratha (potato bread w no discernable potato flavor or filling), chicken tikka masala (flavorless dry white meat chicken, great sauce), saag panir (spinach and cheese, kind of characterless but comforting) and a terrific lamb korma, where each bite was infused with spices, kind of a cinnamony essence. Everything was freshly prepared and arrived quickly, and everything we couldn't finish was thoughtfully packed up. Chutney was delicious, but they could have been a little more generous with it and the raita. I wish they served Masala Dosa, but..oh well. Service was a little perfunctory at first. The guy switched on really loud Indian TV when we walked in, we asked him to turn it off, and he did, but..eek. The place was empty from noon to 1:30, when two more parties came in. For their sake, I hope they survive Saugerties, I would definitely go again (every week!). Not the cheapest on earth, but cheap enough for freshly prepared food--I'd try everything on the menu.

What a terrible experience we just had at the red hook curry house. There were several waitresses there all dressed in black sweatpants. The first waitress/hostess was nice. The second waitress came with dinner plates and asked my boyfriend where she should set it (the table...?). Then when she brought our meals she called them by the wrong names (we only knew because our vegetarian daughter ordered something with chick peas and she was given chicken) so we asked her to please tell us which was which. She couldn't. So my boyfriend said "how can you serve food if you don't know what it is?" And she got nasty and said "well I DON'T work in the kitchen." And walked away. At one point another waitress was stroking the hair of a female guest, and then without washing her hands was serving plates of food. It was gross!! We waited a long time to get the bill and boxes, when all the waitresses sat down at the both behind us to have a meal (we took a picture because we couldn't believe it!) So my boyfriend had to ask the owner so that we could leave. We won't be back. It's too bad to, because the food is decent.

The Bluestone Tavern & Tandoori Grill is just north of Saugerties and once you enter,it is a world away. This restaurant has the finest southwestern Asian food for miles around. The owners took over a traditional American restaurant and preserved it's country ambiance. They not only kept the most favorite dishes such as burgers and pot roast, vastly improved it. The Pot Roast is divine! The Pakistani food is incredibly sublime. The pricing is very .reasonable. There is an outdoor dining area.

Traditional Indian Cuisine with a Cotemporary Twist. We serve authentic Indian cuine with fresh quality ingredients.
We have being coming to Cinnamon ever since it moved into the heart of Rhinebeck and itâs one of our fav places to eat. It has wonderful service (and no turnover!), sublime flavors and it just feels great every time. We always eat an embarrassing amount here (I blame 2 teenage boys) but stand outs include the chicken tikka masala, the delicious shrimp skewers, the lamb cutlets (lamb from New Zealand!) and the goat cheese naan. Consistently great and it pays to book, esp on the weekends!
