Ate at Ports Cafe on Rte 14 South. Very pleasing atmosphere, outstanding service and very good food well prepared. Gets very crowded after 5:30 pm but it accepts reservations. Had flank steak with scallops, fried veggies and mash potatoes. Everything was exquisite. Two people with drinks $120.

We made a reservation for a birthday with Opentable, and confirmed the reservation the morning of our visit. We arrived 12 minutes late and were told that they had given our table to someone else because they thought we weren't coming. Not exactly the welcome we were expecting for a birthday, and this makes me wonder why I bothered giving them my phone number. When we eventually got seated, service was very slow. One of the specials was already 86 at 6:30 pm. As for the food, it was very uneven. The homemade charcuterie and bread were below average and I would recommend against serving things you obviously don't master very well (and charging your customers for them). The rabbit shepherd's pie special was pretty good, the poutine wasn't really a poutine (fries and liquid peppery gravy with a giant lump of cheese at the bottom). The chocolate cookie with fudge arrived in a little cast iron pan but completely cold and I'm still not sure this was really a cookie.
