I ate here each morning while visiting Cooperstown last weekend. The downtown restaurants are crowded and noisy. Plus you get an excellent view of the lake when you sit outside, which I did for all 4 meals. I enjoyed the crab benedict twice and went with eggs and the homemade corned beef hash. All were excellent. For dinner, I went with the stuffed lobster which was also very good. The only reason I did not rate this with 5 stars was for the most part the service was very good and friendly except the last morning. I was served coffee upon being seated and did not see the server again for a good 15 to 20 minutes. She apologized and admitted that she had forgotten me. I placed my order and after 30 minutes no food. I was just getting ready to leave when she brought my breakfast. Despite that episode, I will return again when I visit next year. It is a little pricey but you do have that view! Would recommend dinner reservations on the weekends.

Locals know to head to âThe Pitâ Tuesday evenings for the $7 Dinner Special. Families and friends chose from a half dozen simple dinners, like pot roast, chicken parm, meatloaf, linguini, or generous house salad. Pub-like setting, on tap beverages, and probability of familiar faces makes this a local fave. Busy in season as well, a few steps from Main Street, and down the the stairs below sidewalk level, where menu and daily specials are posted. The Tunnicliff Inn, above, offers dining and accommodations.

I go to Cooperstown every summer, and have eaten here before, usually lunch. I decided to have dinner at the Blue Mingo with some friends. Overall our experience was average to poor. The food was ok, but definitely overpriced for the quality of the food. The service was extremely slow, poor actually and it was a Wednesday evening so it was not due to crowds.
