Things to do in Ballston Spa
Imagine our surprise to pull into a Mexican Restaurant in upstate New York (1431, 388 Milton Ave, Ballston Spa, NY 12020 to be exact) and find not only a varied menu, but to find on that menu Menudo de PansitaâMexican Soup with Tripe. I was flabbergasted to find it listed in such an environ as Ballston Spa, but even more impressed with the quality of the soup. The broth was perfect, the tripe was chewable, but not mushyâi.e., perfectly cooked. The only thing to keep me from ordering it over & over is a desire to try other menu items. My wife had the Taquitos, 4 âlittle tacos,â each loaded with chicken & greens. She thought they were great. The facility was tidy, clean and cozy. The limited decor was fine and the bathrooms spot on clean. The service was terrific. Needless to say, El Cilantro on Milton Ave. in Ballston Spa, NY was a big hit with usâboth in our senior years. We travel from Buffalo to Rutland several times a year, & El Cilantro will be a stopping point on most trips. Phenomenal food; wonderful service; pleasant, clean & subdued interior; & reasonable prices given the quantity & high quality of the foodânot the usual âriceâ anâbeansâ & ground beef taco joint. El Cilantroâs food has the style & quality of food one expects in southern Texas or Southern California.

Homemade Mexican Family Friendky restaurant offering great Margaritas, outside patio and huge room for private parties.
We were delighted in the quaint Mexican atmosphere and polite knowledgeable service. Our waitress Maria was delightful and helpful. They start you off with fantastic homemade salsa and tortilla chips which were outstanding. The specialty Margaritas we chose were expertly mixed and very generous in size. We then ordered combination meals, one Flautas and Chili Rellenos and one Mole Chicken Enchiladas and Chili Rellenos. These were truly delicious and tasted like authentic Mexican should. They are served with choice of black or refried beans and a fantastically seasoned rice. Then onto dessert of Fried Ice Cream and Flan. The desserts were the only thing that kept this place from a five star rating. The ice cream itself is not actually fried but instead rolled in a fried coconut. It was tasty however she loves her 'fried' ice cream so points lost there. The Flan was very tasty although it was very stiff compared to most flan I have tasted. The sauce was very good though and went well with some of her ice cream I inherited. The prices were very reasonable with great drinks and large portions and as I mentioned the service was top notch. We will be heading back for sure. Leon`s is much better than most Mexican the region has to offer.
Drove to KFC looking forward to some tasty chicken and the worlds best cole slaw, waited for 1/2 an hour (no exaggeration). Finally the order was ready, couldnât wait to leave and eat. When we arrived home there wasnât any cole slaw. So frustrating. Went back the next day and told them and in their favor they gave me the cole slaw, which was very nice, however, wish I had it the night before with my chicken. The waits are long and often they donât have enough chicken, I donât get it.
