Stopped here for a brunch while we were visiting Brooklyn a few weeks ago. Great atmosphere, good brunch offerings and good food! My only disappointment was their Bloody Marys: While the drink seems to be made from scratch(in a blender?), they lacked much flavor, and had an overly-thick/under-blended consistency. In my opinion, their flavor could be easily improved/enhanced by just adding more salt and Worcestershire sauce.

L'Antagoniste

L'Antagoniste is a French farm-to-table restaurant serving updated classics in a friendly neighborhood setting. We call beautiful Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn our home.

Stopped at this quaint spot for dinner with high hopes of a good meal. Unfortunately, overall, most of the items we sampled were quite disappointing. Muscles: While the liquid the muscles were sitting in was tasty- the muscles themselves were average at best. -Mediterranean Anchovies(fried): Served with a simple(almost flavorless) mayo, they were very fishy and unappealing.-Special Du Jour(ordered 2): A chicken dish was OK, ...but not memorable.-Hamburgers(ordered 2): OK, but not of the flavor one would hope/expect The fresh steamed vegetables we opted for(rather than fries), on the side, were good. Overall- our entrees' flavors could have been improved/enhanced if the chef just incorporated some more salt in the preparation. With that said, I realize many French chefs believe they have seasoned their dishes "perfectly": OK- .....but please provide salt (& pepper) shakers on the tables for the "salt-aholic" patrons. On a positive note- the restaurant's owner and our waiter couldn't have been friendlier and more welcoming.

Went here for dinner with my family. Brooklyn has turned into a dining atmosphere. Many places can’t survive the high rents but I’m told Juliette has been there for many years and I can see why. We were promptly seated and ordered drinks. I tried a new one for me which was very refreshing. It’s called G and Tea. Overall the service was a little slow but we weren’t rushed soit was fine with us. However, not once did our waitress come back to the table to ask how everything was or to ask if we needed any refills on drinks, or if we wanted more bread, etc. The shrimp appetizer was my favorite. It came in a sizzling cast iron skillet with lots of oil, garlic and red pepper flakes. We dipped our bread into the oil, delicious. This is where we could have used more bread. I had the salmon. It was a large portion, done perfectly. The best was the last.. the creme burlee. It was creamy and a large dish. I would recommend this restaurant. I would have given it a five star except the service could have been better. The prices are to be expected for the location and quality of food. I don’t recommend bringing the kids.
