My husband, daughter and I visited Raclettes on a Saturday evening in early September. Having been to France a few times, we enjoy bistro dining and Raclettes in Buffalo did not disappoint. We had dinner outside which was very pleasant. We enjoyed all the food but especially the cheese/meat charcuterie board. We will definitely return when we visit Buffalo again! We are pleased that you enjoyed our patio and are somewhat sad that it will be going away soon with the weather. I hope you enjoyed your time in Buffalo as much as your time at Raclettes - as we LOVE our city and hope to see you here again soon!

My colleague surprisingly secured reservations for two at 6:00 pm on a Thursday mid-November evening at CRaVing - an interesting, quaint dining venue located at 1475 Hertel Avenue, in Buffalo, New York. On-street parking of which there is plenty led to a quick two-block walk to my destination - CRaVing. The single-entry door takes you into the “bar” space which is directly to the right, a variety of selections along the back wall, and traditional bar stools in a row. To the left is an open entryway that takes you into a limited occupancy, but comfortably in size separate dining space – along the back wall is a row of “booth seats” aligned with individual tables and chairs, as well as several tables situated throughout. Linen-draped tables with complimentary butcher paper, rolled tableware and glassware highlighted tabletop simplicity. Our friendly, soft-spoken server provided us with menus, took our beverage order (sparkling water - it was a work night), and answered a few questions. I quickly noticed at the top of the always-evolving menu a bold note that stated: “Today’s Farmers Are” with the names of eight famers’ prominently displayed. In addition, on the bottom of the menu it stated “We are more than happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions or allergies”, and “Please inform your server, and the chefs will create a dish that suits your needs” – This is the first time I have ever seen these friendly and service-oriented statements on a menu. Our food order included Beet Salad @ $12 to share, Ricotta Gnocchi @ $ 21 and Mushroom Pizza @ $14. I had heard that the food prepared at @ CRaVing was fresh, unusual and delicious and we weren’t disappointed. The Beet Salad tasted as if the ingredients had just been picked from the backyard garden, and the Ricotta Gnocchi and Mushroom Pizza had bountiful flavors that were easy to identify, but not overpowering. While dining I noticed tables continually filling, light conversations and background music that complimented the vibe of CRaVing’s atmosphere. The single-gender non-accessible restrooms, one to the left back corner and the other toward the left of the bar, were well maintained. In summary, CRaVings is a definite Hertel Avenue, Buffalo, New York “go-to” - the interior is inviting and comfortable, the service staff friendly and attentive, and the food explicit to this venue’s website description.Wow Lori, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thorough and descriptive review! We really enjoyed reading it, and are even happier that you enjoyed your meal! We hope you stop in again. Have a great holiday season :)

Coco Bar & Bistro

My husband and I travel quite a bit, and one of our favorites destinations is Paris. Coco's gave us a little bit o'Paris this week, restaurant week of all times! With a friend who hails from Miami, who remarked on what a cool urban vibe the place has, we enjoyed our three courses immensely. Our waiter showed great sensitivity to our GF friend, pointing out the appropriate choices. We started out with the stoup, which was my only demerit: it's essentially oniony broth poured over a hunk of bread, with shaved cheese on top. The salad however was delicious and not overly dressed. The mains: I had the duck pizza, like a peking duck pizza with hoisin, sesame seeds, scallions and sliced duck breast. Delicious, and ample. Could easily serve two or more. The Duck Confit was devoured and enjoyed as was the cassoulet, a crock filled with duck breast, rabbit sausage, beans...also devoured. The desserts are fantastic and different too. I don't remember the names of them, but one was a gooey apricot cake, like a sticky toffee consistency, oozing with maple/caramel, lightened with a dab of whipped cream. Then there was the molteny chocolate pie thing with whipped cream. The waiter even discovered a dish of macarons for my GF friend. How sweet!
