Diner Time

Returning from two weeks in St. Catharines-Niagara Region, the Hamilton-Burlington, and Toronto areas, I stopped over in the Albany-Latham-Colonie area for a few days. The first full day in the area, I had lunch at DinerTime which was close to the La Quinta I stayed at. I remember this as the Circle Diner from several years ago. Under the new ownership, it has been completely renovated. At the time of my visit, it had been open for about 15 months. Thanks to reviews by other TripAdvisor members that I read before deciding on where to eat, I knew that the food at this diner would be good. The décor includes a wall decoration – wallpaper, I think -- with all different types of clocks set to different times and hourglasses. On arrival, I was greeted and seated promptly. The beige leatherette booth I sat in was very comfortable. The menu had all the diner classics from breakfasts, sandwiches, and burgers to salads and hot dinners and then some, plus modern additions such as wraps, quesadillas, and panini. The waitress came by for my beverage order and returned with it a minute later. For lunch, I ordered the DinerTime Deluxe Burger at $8.95 + 72 cents tax for a total of $9.67. It cane with lettuce, tomato, and a choice of cheese. I took Swiss cheese. Homemade coleslaw and French fries came on the side. It was about a 15-minute wait for my food. The burger came topped with a few onion rings. The burger was cooked just as ordered ~ at medium. It was moist and tasty. The cheese was melted nicely. The coleslaw and French fries were both quite good. The burger was 8 oz. I had difficulty finishing my meal. Service from Marisa was great. The place was clean. The desserts in the cases had eye-pooping appeal. On this trip, I didn’t have room for dessert. That 8 oz. burger was very filling.I rate DinerTime at 4.50 and highly recommend a visit. The restaurant had a ramp accessible by wheelchair on the left side of the front entrance. My sister and I went here for breakfast after staying at the adjacent Super 8. The waiter was welcoming and talkative and the dining area was clean. We ordered variations of the Grand Slam Breakfast. Mine came with delicious oatmeal, 2 pancakes, 2 slices of bacon, and an English muffin. My sister got a less than 450 calorie version with lots of fruits. She loved the coffee. We were in and out within 25-30 minutes. The staff seemed to work very well as a team at this Denny's. We were pleased with the experience.
