Amber Lantern Brewing Company

Reviewed By Daniel M

We stopped into the Amber Lantern after a day of hiking in Letchworth State Park. The main attraction was their S'mores Porter. Given that it is called a brewing company, we expected a bit more upscale feel, but found something more like a brewpub. The server was kind and service quick. Unfortunately, they did not have the Porter on tap. I hindsight, this was in plain view on the website, but I missed it. Make sure you check out what is on tap before going. I had an ale instead of the porter, not sure which one (not one of their pale ales). It had grapefruit in it, which you could taste. Not a bad beer after a hot day. We ordered the Harvest Chicken Salad and the Taco Wrap. Both were pretty good. Again, not anything special, but decent food at a good price. The salad was big and the wrap was tasty. While the pub did not exactly meet our expectations, it is a good option in the Warsaw area. Especially if you are looking to not spend as much money as other restaurants in the area.

Stopped here on a Thursday. Got pulled pork sandwich. Comes unsauced. They give you a choice of sauces none of which were very appetizing. Meat smelled "off" Cole slaw looked wet, but had no flavor. Dirty Mac and cheese was bland at best. Pretty disappointing.

Needed a place for dinner on short notice near Letchworth State Park. After much discussion of what looked like limited options, our group settled on this place, and I have to admit that driving up to it, I was not sure what we were getting into. All I could see were cornfields, and then this very nice looking restaurant popped into view. The menu was varied enough to meet just about any taste. Several members of our group had the fish and chips and thought it was excellent. I tried one of the wood fired pizzas and had enough left for two extra meals. We didn’t order the prime rib but walked by a table that was obviously savoring it, and it looked delicious. Best of all, they took us with no advanced notice, without a reservation, and were super nice about it. Service was really lovely and certainly if I’m ever back in that part of the state, a return visit here will be high on our list of things to do.
