The service was polite but not that responsive. We both liked the soups. The entrees were not quite the Italian taste we have experienced in a Italian restaurants in the area.Somewhere between one of nearby diners and a really good Italian restaurant. Pizza is really their specialty. The atmosphere was more like a better pizzeria.

Generations of Rye children and adults have been well looked after at this downtown Rye institution. New York style pizza- check. Big salads- check. Pasta and sandwiches - check. Anything fancy or fuzzy- nope- just classic New York pizzeria fare. Sunrise's menu is limited to NY style pizza, sandwiches, red sauce pasta, and salads but all are done well and with care. They are truly great with kids- so don't hesitate to bring your over-hungry brood in. Great place to stop in after a ball game or for a quick bite before heading to the train. It is more or less in train parking lotTry the lasagna pizza- it's fantastic!Oh- Make sure you bring your cash. They don't take credit cards- though they have been know to offer credit until your next visit when you're light- which is nice!Enjoy one of down town Rye's favorites!

Arrived late around 8:40-9:00 pm for dinner. 4 persons. Still very busy but we got a table. I hear the wait can be quite long. Ordered the Pure bliss,a Rustic, and A Dean Martin pizza, plus 4 interesting beers. Also an arugula and Cesar salad. The pizzas cost around 15-16$. The pizzas are actually grilled , and almost matzo or cracker thin, great for low carb folks, but not really what I consider a real pizza. If you want real chewy thin pizza , with hot toppings , then you must go somewhere else. These pizzas won’t satisfy you. This is not the place for you!! The toppings are excellent , lots of topping applied too , they don’t skimp. such as the ricotta , pesto and tomato on the pure bliss pizza. ...the rustic has mozz , truffle oil and mushrooms. Also the toppings are not really hot ( just warm) at all, and must only be grilled , sort of? , and not be baked. The cracker thin crust is grill/and charred intentionally. You must like your pizzas charred. Pizzas are so thin and only grilled, so they only take about 5 min to cook. So service is pretty quick. The salads are exceptional , really fresh and large and are about $10. Order them ! A lot of folks come here for the beers apparently and they have some difficult to get stuff , like farm house , sour beers , etc. ( also Naragansett!?? A Worthless beer. ) they have 7-8 alternating beers on tap. And lots of other bottles and cans. Lots of single and double iPas. Some very limited release. People come for the beers ....apparently. The food is very limited in variety , grilled matzo-like crust pizzas , salads with lots of greens, simply dressed , and they do also offer roasted Brussels sprouts and grilled wings. No pastas , No baked Italian dishes, no other grilled or sautéed meats. “Forget abouditt!! “ Open later on Friday and Saturday. Very Tough to get a table though!! Small place. Also Hard to find parking. Try the public lot near the Portchester Train station?

Sometimes they offer very good pizza, other times they don't. The issue is the crust. Maybe they have different cooks on different nights. Other than that, the owner is friendly, the place is a typical take out/eat in pizza joint. The prices are average.

In Harrison, we've got five pizzerias all within a half mile of each other: NY Pizza Station, Pizza 2000, Harrison Pizza, Sofia's Pizzeria, and Realdo Pizzeria. Just walk up Halstead and you'll bump into all five of them in that order, with a slight detour west on Harrison Avenue to find Sofia's.Four of the aforementioned pizzerias have been around for ages, and the fifth (NY Pizza Station) is still around after opening more than a year ago, on the strength of fast delivery times and respectable pies. If five pizzerias operating within walking distance of each other can survive in Harrison's relatively tiny downtown district, it's safe to say the town has an insatiable appetite for pizza. Here's the breakdown:- Harrison Pizza is known for its ridiculously good specialty slices and solid delivery service. They will make any insane combination of toppings you ask for, and the pizza will be hot when it gets to your door- NY Pizza Station is the newest, the least expensive, and it's surprisingly good. The Station makes a nice Sicilian slice- Realdo and Sofia's don't put much stock in elaborate specialty slices, but that's because they don't have to: their standard Neopolitan slices are classics, and both places excell at pasta dishesSo where does that leave Pizza 2000? It's got spacious new digs in a recently completed townhouse-style building about half a block up from its former location. If you're with a large group planning to sit down and eat in the pizzeria, Pizza 2000 is your best bet. For what it's worth, I don't think their regular slice is all that special -- I'd go for a slice from Realdo or Harrison first -- but Pizza 2000 makes some solid Sicilian pies. And as of this writing (July of '09) it's the most expensive pizzeria in town. Paying eight bucks and change for two specialty slices feels a lot like going to Sbarro.

I think that getting a good meal here is knowing how to order. My husband and son got Reuben sandwiches, and they really liked them. My daughter-in-law and I ordered tuna sandwiches, and they were not good. I ordered mine toasted and she did not and we both got them toasted. It took so long to get our order, she did not ask for a correction. Also, although there was a LOT (too much) tuna salad, there was nothing else on the sandwiches. It seems you have to tell them if you want lettuce, tomatoes, etc., and we did not know that. They come with nothing. It was quite a disappointment, but I would probably give them one more try.

Porta Napoli

The pizza is decent. It is an attempt to create a real Neapolitan pizza. It falls a bit short. The pizza grew somewhat cold as I was eating it. The crust was not really crispy. The prices were high, especially for the wines. I expected a lot more from this place.

I've been to Sal's before it is quite popular and well-known in the area. It usually has a little bit of a line which moves quite quickly as they are quite enough people behind the counter. You can take out or sit in one of the booths. However the pizza really is just average wasn’t great. And of course it as the atmosphere of a joint. The service is good and the prices reasonable, parking on the street.
