My last morning at Chautauqua, I wanted to be in this 100+ year old hotel dining room. The $13 buffet seemed fair, since it included drinks/all you could eat. While not outstanding food, the pleasure of the room itself made the experience memorable.

A nice local casual dining restaurant. Their walleye fish fry and local perch are cooked very well. The sides were all great. The service was really friendly. The French prime rib is a specialty - basically a prime run with French onion soup on it (onion soup, croutons and cheese). The only knock was the unimaginative house salad.

This is a bar that has 1000 personalities. Come midday, especially on a nice day, and you can sit out front and watch the world go by while you grab some grub and have a drink. Come in the winter, and this is a warm landing place amidst a cold, forbidding landscape, and you can find ice fisherman and snowmobilers in numbers. Come late afternoon, and you can likely catch someone playing guitar on the porch as the sun works it way down, and come in here later at night and you can find drunks aplenty. This is a drinking bar - not a place to bring your four kids (though there are parts that are definitely more restaurant than tavern) - and the seats around said bar are going to be used by folks that live in this area (Mayville and surrounding). We've been going to the Lakeview for 20 years, and it's astonishing how little it has really changed. The food is very, very typical bar fare and it has never rated above decent for our group, but that's fine - you go to the Lakeview because it's close by, the people are completely real and authentic, and it's a great spot to watch a game. I wish they'd finally stop serving fries from a frozen bag, or burgers that come from the freezer, but they probably won't. I love that they still offer a little salad bar - such as it is - and that occasionally they stretch on specials (stuffed haddock on a recent night). But, truthfully, I've never had a meal in two decades where I said, "Wow, that was amazing." They've got a nice selection of local beers (Southern Tier offerings heavy on the draft front), they ring the bell when someone tips, the bartenders aren't going to be easily ruffled by anything (because they've seen almost everything), and the food comes out hot. Take it for what it is and appreciate it - the Lakeview is an institution down the road from The Institution - and they couldn't be more millions of miles apart in culture and compadres.

I was staying at the Chautauqua Institute, not known for good food and decided to venture into Mayville. I noticed this place because the parking lot was pretty full (always a good sign). It was exactly what I was looking for, a nice diner with good food, reasonably priced and a very nice waitress. Next time Iâm at the Institute Iâll pop over here to eat.

Forget any cheesecake chain you've been to...this puts it to shame. This is a hidden gem! Homemade everything with a few gifts to peek at and a very unique building. Perfect for a casual date or best friend lunch...In the middle of Mayville...so close to all the shops. Will never buy another cheesecake anywhere else. SUPER FRIENDLY owners and I LOVE supporting hometown businesses.

We stopped and had hoped to her breakfast. We were disappointed that they only served breakfast until 11:30 am on weekdays as most diners serve it all day from our experience. The food was good. The homemade cinnamon rolls are huge....the size of a plate. The only reason I didnât give this a 4 is because of breakfast not being served all day.

Three of us had dinner. The "old" old fashioned was excellent. Nice menu choices and well prepared and presented. The coconut shrimp appetizer was very good along with pina colada dip. The lake trout was very fresh and excellent.Very attentive waitress who was friendly and knowledgable.

Dad and I sought out this little place based on the TA reviews. So glad we did! Very convenient to the Chautauqua Institution, where we were staying. Dad had eggs, bacon and an english muffin. I asked for a half order of traditional eggs benedict - and they were happy to oblige, thankfully (I can't eat that much!) Both orders came with fruit garnish. The building was built before 1900, and was a general store for years. It really brought to mind the general store in the small town where I grew up! We enjoyed our meal so much that we returned on our last day before heading home. Don't miss this charming cafe.

Welcome to Webb's Captains Table! Webb's is a third generation family business started in 1942 by Paul and Nadine Webb and carried on today by second generation Jim and Sally Webb, and third generation Ben Webb. Our main dining rooms provide a comfortable
We live on the lake and decided to take friends for lunch at Webb's. Seeing that there were 7 of us, I made reservations ahead of time. We entered on the main floor and told the hostess that we had reservations for 7 on the deck. She grabbed 7 menus then just stared at me to the point I had to look away. She finally said "just go upstairs". So we did and the process repeated with a waitress on the upper deck. She was not prepared for our party of 7 and had to set up a table. I watched in amazement as she put a round table next to a square table to have seating for 7. It was horrendous. Those who sat where the round met the square had a very awkward table setting. The service was average. The noise from the road at times made it impossible to hear the conversation. Finally, the prices for an awkward table setting, noise, and average service were out of line. I paid $18 for a salad that did NOT have any protein. Mind you, this was a weekday and after the summer season. We will not be returning to Webb's.

We visit Chautauqua every summer. Normally eat a pizza at Andriaoccioâs. Always very good. Tonight we decided to order in via their web site. Chicken picatta and roasted Walleye. Two salads, garlic bread. It was great. So much better than we expected. Can I say world class? Certainly at home at the Italian gun club. Highly recommended.
