New York State has it all – booming metropolises, majestic waterfalls, mountains, wine country, chicken wings. Yes, NYC is a magnet for tourists, but an exploration of the rest of the state can be equally thrilling. The Finger Lakes Wine Region is a vision of serene waters, quaint B&Bs, and pretty vineyards. Movie buffs will love Rochester, home of the George Eastman House and one of the world’s most comprehensive film archives. On your way to Niagara Falls, stop in Buffalo to fuel up on spicy wings.

First off, I want to say how AWESOME Jonathan at the front desk was. He was genuinely one of the best people I interacted with during my entire time in New York, so shoutout to him. Overall, the service at the hostel was really good, the employees are doing a good job. Otherwise, though, it was just... fine. Things I liked: - The whole place was super clean, including the bathrooms. - The little cafe up at the front was great, a really pleasant surprise. - The common spaces were cute with plenty of places to hang out. The things I didn't like so much: - The website had mentioned that the bunks have privacy curtains, but this wasn't the case. I'm kinda weird about people seeing me sleep, so I ended up tucking a blanket under the top bunk. This worked, but it also put me down a blanket, which leads into the next point: - The temperature in the rooms is super inconsistent. One night I'd be freezing and the next I'd be sweating/ You're only provided with a bedsheet, one thin blanket, with the option of a second, so on the cold nights it wasn't quite enough. -The vibe definitely wasn't as social as other hostels I've stayed at. Perhaps it's just a reflection of New York, but rather than seeing people chatting and hanging out in the common areas, most everyone was doing work on their computers. Also, just a little shower tip: bring a washcloth (they don't provide any), and if you have longer hair, bring your own shampoo/conditioner. The hostel only has 2-in-1 shampoo+body wash which was less terrible than I expected but still not ideal. Honestly, while it definitely wasn't perfect, it was a clean place to sleep, which is exactly what I needed.

The Evelyn Hotel blends timeless style and avant-garde glam for an authentically New York City hotel experience. Set in the NoMad neighborhood, formerly historic Tin Pan Alley - the city's Jazz Age music epicenter – the hotel features a recently enhanced lobby experience and three exceptional dining concepts by Chef Jonathan Benno. Feel at home in beautifully remodeled accommodations with luxurious comforts like Frette linens, bath amenities by Five Wits and bathrooms with heated floors and custom vanities with marble sinks. Vintage touches including musically-inspired accents and antique-style furnishings create a nostalgic experience in the heart of Manhattan's NoMad district, walking distance to Midtown, Union Square, NYU and Greenwich Village.
We originally stayed at the Evelyn because we loved the fact that it was 'named after us!' That was only what introduced us on the first occasion, as it has now become our regular first choice of accommodation, with each visit providing added attractors that make us want to stay again! As soon as possible... and we can't wait for the restaurant to be re-opened to try on our next visit to NYC. (We adore the bathroom design/decor - but would never want to spoil the delightful surprise that provides!)

Not my first time making a visit to this hostel and I'd happened to enjoy my stays at the NY Moore. One of the best Hostel in NY right now and I'd recommend and use it when I am consulting or on a project for a client. The murals and the space are by far the best. The location has nearby ramen spots so google search. Knickerbocker isn't fair and if you looking for food trucks, that is also nearby. The bedroom is always nice and has a good amount of space for each visitor to the hostel. There is free wi-fi and Netflix (Oh my panda) for some of you Netflix junkies out there (HAHA) But you will have a good time here and the best part is " handicap accessibility for those looking for a hostel with options, Not many hostels have that option. Nice kitchen to cook your meals and diner space as well. STAFF is awesome and we love ramen on at the NY Moore, LOL

Listen this is the best place close just minutes from manhattan if you do like going to the city. The view of the city is nice and the bar is open after 5 pm and the cafe is open all day. I stay here before in 2021 and this year working as a traveling consultant, Photographer, and filmmaker. Where and when I come to NYC, I try to make the booking for this place first before anything in the city. Clean rooms, easy access as well There is always something going on at The LOCAL NY "look for daily events "if you do visit" The staff is and always has been amazing.

Stayed here as a group of 3 females and I have to say I felt a little unsafe. The premesis was really run down and kind of dirty from the outset. The location was amazing but that was all. We needed no keycards or ID's when entering the building and anyone could have walked in. The beds were fine, but the balcony was very dirty along with the bathroom (bugs in the shower), and we had to ask for towels. On numerous occasions various staff members walked into our room without even knocking, to "empty the bins" or drop us toilet paper etc. A couple hours after we had checked out, we went back to collect our bags from the shared space where they were locked away. We were given the Key to go up and collect them ourselves, in which case we could have taken anything from any of the other bags that were in there. On arrival I was told only the staff had access to this room. Overall felt uneasy staying here and despite the great price and location there were so many red flags.

There aren't many affordable options in NYC so I was happy to discover this place. It's halfway between a hostel and a hotel. The rooms are small, the bathrooms are shared and there are no communal kitchens or microfridges in the room. But you are paying a "resort fee" to have access to the YMCA's gym and pool so you might as well take advantage of it. They do require a swim cap but they sell them at the front desk if you don't have one. The pool also special hours on weekends and holidays so you can't use it whenever but it's still a great perk. It's easy walking distance to Times Square, Central Park and Columbus Circle. There are several food trucks around the corner as well as a Starbucks, Target and Whole Foods within 5 minutes walk.

Gorge View offers affordable accommodations at a privileged location across the street from the Niagara Falls State Park allowing you to walk to the Aquarium, Gorge Discovery Center, Made of the Mist, Cave of the Winds and Waterfalls in minutes. It's a great place to start hiking or biking the many trails along the Niagara Gorge and we're one block from the dining and entertainment district, enjoy food, beverages and meet new people in and around Gorge View.Niagara Falls and the region around it is an affordable tourist destination in a relaxed atmosphere next to a world wonder. There is plenty to do and see within walking distance of Gorge View and no visit would be complete without exploring the larger Niagara Region. We offer private rooms and hostel dorms for overnight stays as well as apartments ideal for students and singles.
You won't find a better located hostel. Right across the street from the Niagara park trails and the aquarium. The kitchen/dining room was well lit, clean, and well-stocked with dishes/pots/utensils. Our room was FABULOUS. We rented the family private room on the front of the building and we were able to watch the fireworks from our window every night. The building is not situated to be able to see the falls, but that's not really an issue for us. The walk to the falls area was flat and about a mile on scenic paved trails.

I was here back in 2019 and it was really an awesome place to stay, so we decided to go back with one friend this time in 2021 and it was even better. The place is super cool and has the best possible location in NY with a great price. Amdre (the host) was so kind, polite and helpful. The rooms are great, and the very best part is the breakfast and coffee you can take :D! We also met a girl called Courtney that was helping Amdre to make some new changes to this place. We will for sure go back to this place every time we visit New York. If you get to read this, we miss you Amdre and Courtney, the guys from Argentina!

I knew this place was a shole, but I wasn't expecting this. I've been to sholes like this but I never felt unsafe. This place is UNSAFE and DIRTY. It is unsafe because the shower room has no lock in the door. The main entrance is not locked. Anyone can get in. Some receptionists don't even look at you when you get into the hotel. If you are travelling alone (specially if you're a woman, AVOID this place). The atmosphere is far from comfy or friendly. I felt very very unsafe. It is dirty and there are cockroaches and rats. I was taking a shower and I saw a cockroach next to me. Not funny at all. The shared toilets are infested with those plus always dirty. I think one of the biggest problems is that they always leave the windows of the corridor wide open and they placed a trash bin next to it (what do they have in their brains???). Furthermore, the whole accommodation looks like a jail. The only good part is that is well located. Never again.
