Contentious Character is a cool-climate winery, set in the hills of Wamboin, 30km east of Canberra. Whether you come to ours, or our wines come to you, weâll give you plenty to talk about. Weâre a single vineyard winery. We grow our own grapes, sell our o
We were gifted a Red Balloon experience voucher. The setting was beautiful. It was a cold winterâs day in Canberra, but the views and the warmth of the restaurant made up for that. We had an informative and interesting winemaking tour with Jeremy which led to an impressive wine tasting with Ben.The food is incredible- it has to be the best meal Iâve eaten in the Canberra region for a while. We especially liked that they use locally sourced produce. We tried the chicken, which was sublime, and the delicious lamb and pasta. The service was impeccable. The staff were just so lovely and helpful that it added to the overall experience. We would absolutely recommend this venue as a lovely day out- but itâs more than just a meal. Set aside three hours for the full experience which is absolutely worth every penny. We love our red ballooners! Thanks and see you again one day.

Yes, the food is good, yes, the coffee is fine. But the service (on a sunny Sunday afternoon) was chaotic - staff yelling out names for drinks, and customers coming in from the outside tables wondering where their drinks had gone (up to 15 minutes wait). One of our pies had a rubber band in it - not a good sign. Staff did have numbered discs to give out for orders to put on your table but did not use them. Serviette containers on all the tables were empty. Up to 12 people in the queue at any one time. Staff are young and friendly, but there is a need for an experienced supervisor to make things run more smoothly
D&K Kitchen is the showcase restaurant of the Lark Hill Vineyard. Our food philosophy is fresh, local, seasonal & sustainable. Our menu is designed to complement and reflect the nature of the Lark Hill wines. You can explore Lark Hill's entire range of wi
We had Friday lunch here for my mums birthday. We had the charcuterie platter, cheese platter, olives & wedges. All the food was superb & beautifully presented. Had the special Tiramisu dessert that was smooth & creamy but not too rich. I love that the chef came to the table at the end of our meal to see how things went & had a lovely chat. Highly recommend.Thank you very much for your nice comments. We very much appreciate it and look forward to welcoming you again in the future.

No where better on a cold winters night. Fire raging and good food. Have dined here many times. Nice atmosphere. Kids welcome, so sometimes better to go a bit later. Husband says the Griddled Grass Fed Black Angus Cattleman's Ribeye On The Bone is better than you can get anywhere!!!!The garlic bread is out of this world ......Divine warm bread, with garlic butter serverved separately. Other dishes on the menu change regularly, but are all good. Service is attentive. It's a regular place for us to dine.

We were passing by, saw the wintergarden sign, stuck our head in and went inside. We're really really glad we did. It was very atmospheric, a warm log fire burning which was a great change from the cold outside, copper bar fittings, wooden panels, really impressive ceiling. They have a nice wee garden also. The food and drinks were good, and the staff were really friendly and chatty. A lot of work and thought has been spent into making this a great place. We found out that it has been refitted recently, and there was a birthday party there and they all looked like they were enjoying themselves. We only intended to stay for one drink, but ended up staying for more than 3 hours. Glad you came in. It was a treat for us too, meeting you both. Hope to see you next time you come this way. Richard

On a quick trip through Bungendore discovered the R&R Diner, simple Cafe quaint setting outside under the trellised tree, pleasant atmosphere and good food. Part of a small 'square' with little shops around. Toasted sandwich was tasty, tea and coffee great. Service was pretty fast considering it was on a weekend with plenty of tourists around. Could sit inside if you wish but much better outside. Nice village vibe, some interesting shops to visit and purchase that souvenir. All in all a great stop for breakfast or lunch!

We come here annually as part of a board retreat where we stay across the road at the Carrington. For meals we pop across the road to the Cafe Woodworks. We had dinner, then breakfast, then lunch for around 20 people. The highlight was the service. The staff serving us were friendly and efficient. Despite the number of people, meals were brought out close to each other. The food itself was really good with the highlight for me being the Seafood Chowder (which was a special at the time). Highly recommended for groups.
