6. Queanbeyan Jewel of India

RSL Memorial Arcade 82/2 Monaro Street, Queanbeyan, New South Wales Australia Indian

This little restaurant is tucked away in the RSL Memorial Arcade, and a bit hidden. Due to it's location I think it hasn't really been discovered by many people. The owners are pleasant and helpful and happy to suggest menu choices. The food is as good as it gets anywhere. It is not related to the Jewel of India restaurants in Canberra but every bit as good, and much, much, much better value!!!! We usually go with three or four friends and it works out at around or under $20 a head. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired, but who cares when you get food as delicious as they serve. Dine in or take away. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you like Indian!!!!!!

This was one of those unintended yet very pleasant experiences that you seldon chance upon. Late on a Tueday night when neither were many options open nor did I want to travel far from my accomodation; and seraching for options online I found this online. And was just lovely. The Paneer item was a hearty portion of very delicious, creamy serve of a dish with very good consistency and texture. Naans wer perfectly cooked and unlike many olaces were not doughy at all. Ras Malai tasted as those out of a canned bottle, so that can definitely be imporved. But the Samosas were very well cooked and their filling was quite tasty and almost as authentic as from the streets of Delhi. So overall a great expereince and a nice find. But will be recommending Take Away only.

The Royal Turban has only been open for two weeks now and it is a breath of fresh air. Fabulous food and great service. Second Saturday night and the place was buzzing. Wide variety of choices. Best Naan we have tried anywhere. Highly recommended. They also serve Blue Moon ( with and orange slice) on tap. Best beer to have with Indian food. Loved our first visit. We will be back.

Bombay Spice House

Bombay spice always delivers extreme value for money, quality food and excellent service. This family business delivers friendly hospitality in spades. Since opening I have regularly visited Bombay Spice house and have pretty much tried everything on the menu. Favorites include the cheese and garlic nan, lamb saag (the meat is so tender), the tandoori lamb cutlets, chicken tika pizza and of course a super flavoursome butter chicken!

Punjabi Hut Indian Restaurant

Reviewed By Tony R

My son and I ate here last weekend. The service was excellent and the menu reasonably extensive. Very ofthe Biryani is a sort-of-fried rice with bits added, but this restaurant put its name to the biryani, so I decided to give it a try. After I decided to have chicken, the waiter asked how hot I wanted - Think Madras rather than Vindaloo - then asked if I wanted it cooked in the traditional way or the modern style. Traditional.Well, it was the best biryani I have ever eaten and I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Indian food.
