Another return visit for us to Catalina, for a special occasion. Warmly greeted on arrival by staff, with our wait staff being attentive but not intrusive. Main meals of Beef tenderloin accompanied by greens were expertly prepared and tasted delicious. Good choice of wine. Delightful lunch. Too full for dessert this time. The views are dazzling. Go and enjoy the experience. We did!It is a pleasure to read that you had a wonderful time on your recent visit. We are so pleased that you choose us to celebrate your special occasions! Lunched on back-to-back afternoons with business associates. Extensive menu complemented by specials (although they were the same both days, I think). I enjoyed the pasta both days, the ravioli one day and the papardelle the next. Really good wine selections. Very attentive staff. Across the street from Hyde Park, next to the Sheraton Hotel.

Welcoming staff who work very hard with those who eat or outside at the pavement tables and with the takeaway crowds. The flat white I ordered arrived quickly despite their busy-ness and was perfect while their very own take on a bacon and egg roll was excellent with the added tang of their BBQ sauce. But beware, the eggs are deliciously runny. And again it seemed that the hot food arrived very quickly. All in all a very enjoyable brekkie.

We enjoyed the "Stressless Sunday" 5 course degustation dinner at $79 / person on Father's Day.As always the dishes are interesting & diverse & not too filling.Their organic wholemeal sourdough bread with homemade Ricotta is a great start. The only disappointments were that there was no menu to explain what the 5 dishes were & that there are no Australian or New Zealand wines available by the glass.Grazie mille Richard! We are pleased you enjoyed the Stressless Sunday menu, as it's a great way to experience some past and present dishes at Ormeggio. The whole aim of the evening is that it is the chefs way of being creative and designing a menu quite à la minute, therefore, we do not provide a menu on this particular evening. The team did explain each dish to you on the evening as this is standard and a very important procedure. As we are an Italian restaurant we do mainly provide Italian wines, however, we do have a number of Australian wines by the bottle. We hope to see you again soon.

We were a large group there for a special 0 birthday and were in a private room. The staff were very accommodating in helping with the planning of the night and also very helpful on the night. The food was full of flavour and everyone was happy with their choice. Service was very good. Street parking is available but best to get there before 7pm unless you want a longer walk to the restaurant as there are other diners in this area. Inside Bistro 54 is very pleasant - a nice ambience. Would definitely recommend.Hi Aussie Traveller50, Thanks for taking the time to review your dining experience. We are so pleased to hear that everyone enjoyed themselves at the birthday. We will pass on your kind words to the staff. We look forward to you visiting again Kind RegardsCaryn Medak

Having visited The Sardine Room in Potts Point five years ago, I was sad it has closed; however, the owners decided to move the business to Manly and open up the Herring Room. I remained on their mailing list all this time so I knew they had moved.Five years later, I returned to Sydney and the first place I had to visit was the Herring Room. So, after five years the lovely owners Ange and Rodney recognised me and that made my evening. Not only that, I asked about a particular dessert I’d had at The Sardine Room (a Greek semolina pudding) which wasn’t on the menu at the Herring Room. Low and behold, Rodney only went home to get me some so I could have it again. Now that’s service for you. Sometimes you come across a special place and special people like Ange and Rodney. The Sardine Room lives on in the Herring Room, because the owners have kept the reputation and quality of the service and food to a very high standard and people keep coming back. It’s worth the ferry ride across from the CBD just to visit The Herring Room and be greeted by the excellent staff and lovely owners.
