Canât fault the service or the atmosphere in this restaurant of a lovely historic pub. Lovely people, proactive service, big old roaring fireplace on a chilly evening. However, I had the filet mignon which was was actually 2 pieces of meat on top of each other and although I asked for it to be medium, it was over cooked while the veggies were plain and under cooked. Having said that, I would definitely go again and try something different!

As you enter this ageing hotel with its open fires and welcoming ambience it is clear that its reputation is well-known. We were lucky enough to secure a table and to enjoy the good food and wine at reasonable price served by friendly staff.

We made the mistake in choosing to look for something a bit lighter & a more flexible menu than the motel's Hereford Steakhouse by walking to the Crystal Room @ the local Services Club! Nothing out of the ordinary, inexpensive or different from anywhere else, compared to the usual 'CLUB/PUB' fare.Saw lambs brains, she fancied pan seared calamari? as a similar entree.Asked for both as a main, mine mashed potato & small salad, she with just a few fries. My 'brain' meal turned up absolutely smothered in a very heavy non-descript sauce with julienne slices of ham & scallop potato [not mash as requested]. Hers was some calamari dish [not overcooked or rubbery, as is the norm] with absolutely no flavour, over a salad & a small bowl of soggy cold fries [she indicated on ordering she did not want a full serve of fries, as they would be wasted].Down to tin tacks: 1. She didn't eat too much of her stuff, but loved my non ordered scallop potato 2. I enjoyed about 2/3 of the lamb 5 brain portions rescued from the unsuitable smothering sauce? leaving the rest 3. $63Total amazement when questioned....Answer we charge double for main requests!Cost each was more than Chrystal Rooms menu price for their 'top quality steak'. Total rip off.Asking for the manager, complaints made to Club staff @ the time were met with they were a separate entity from the restaurant.3/4 of an hour 2 drinks each from the bar & close to a total of $100 for 2?Club & Restaurant definitely not recommended!
Revisited this pub and things have changed alot since I was there last. There has been a change in management and the atmosphere is not as family friendly like before. The food is still good and is like a home cooked meal but the beer isn't as good, had a funny taste to it.

Went over to Glen Innes to mark an anniversary, but hadn't reckoned on the town being shut on Sundays! Undaunted we strolled the streets and came across this pub, one âï¸ f two open today. The omens were good, it is named for us...Williams Club Hotel, so in we went. So friendly! Menus given straight away, opportunity to sit anywhere we wanted. I had the lamb chops, eggs and chips and am pleased to say they were pan fried not crumbed and deep fried....tasty. Hubby had the fish of the day, and was treated to a large fillet lightly battered. Would certainly recommend.
