Every time I drive through Espanola, New Mexico, I try to visit this old fashioned drive in eatery. It is run by a wonderful family who always welcome me warmly. The menu is straight out of northern New Mexico and thereâs everything youâd expect: Tacos, burritos, enchiladas and their signature Stop and Eat burger.My favorite, and it is only $5, is the enchilada plate. With two rolled enchiladas chock full of cheese, a meat sauce with homemade red or green chile and covered by a salad of lettuce and tomatoes, what could go wrong? Well, nothing actually. It really is excellent.And you know you are in the right place when the locals are always there gossiping about the goings on in town. Stop and Eat is a step back in time to a place that is pure New Mexico. Enjoy when you are driving through to Santa Fe or Albuquerque.

The food was good. The staff were polite. The BIG issue was the WAIT just to order! They seemed understaffed in a big way. Maybe someone didn't show up? Maybe they are normally short-handed? I don't know. What I do know is that waiting 10 minutes to order at a 'fast food' place DURING LUNCH HOUR is not acceptable.They get three stars because the food was good and the staff that were there were doing their best and maintained a customer friendly attitude. But whoever the manager is there, here's a suggestion - HIRE MORE STAFF. Thanks!

My sister and I were going to Ojo Caliente hot springs and decided what food deals the casino had. OMG, my sister had the salmon with veggies and mashed potatoes for $16.00 and it was such a large portion she had it for dinner as well. She said it was the best salmon she had ever had. I had the green chili stew. A huge bowl for $6.00. The cup was $4.00.It was delicious too. This is a hidden gem. The casino has smoking but this restaurant is smoke free and it is close to the casinos front entrance so you in the smoking area for a brief minute or less. I highly suggest stopping here.

Chilies is typical chilies fair. I have yet to figure what ask for when ordering a steak. Today I asked for medium and it came medium rare, agggh. My wife's ribs were dry but tasty. I did point out that today's salsa was watery and usually Chilies' salsa is of decent consistency, with a mild taste.
