Yesterday was my second time at this establishment, and I was even more impressed than my first visit. Everything about the food and service was top notch, without the overly-stuffy feeling of some finer dining. And Sunday's are a special treat with half price wine on almost every bottle they carry. This makes some of their nicer bottles of wine an absolute steal. I can't wait to go back.

Restaurateurs Francis Schott and Mark Pascal operate two of New Jersey's most storied restaurants. Stage Left Steak -- celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2017 -- is famous for its wood-grilled steaks, award-winning wine list and pioneering cocktail progr
The Stage Left has the makings of a good restaurant...old feel when you walk in, a nice bar and attentive staff. The appetizers were good but the steaks and seafood we ordered way off a quality steakhouse. The filet and strip were both under seasoned. Ordered medium they were served medium rare. The salmon was bland, the pickled vegetable puree it was served with was good. To make matters worse the wine list is comprised of wines that are from "small vineyards" which means you can't select the wine because you haven't experienced them. You pay a high price for wine and take a big risk. Our meal was $50 per person, without including alcohol. We eat at many high quality steak houses and that price would be acceptable...but not hear. Many other better places to go!Hey I'm sorry you didn't care for our place. Our wine list is from small producers because we think they make much better wine and represent much better value and are much more interesting than big name 'brands.' We've got over 800 wines on our list with 50 under $40 and almost 100 under $50. I understand completely wanting to see familiar names, and if you want the same wines you can get anywhere else, we're not the right choice. But 20 years of Wine Spectator 'Best of Award of Excellence' certificates is a testament to the quality of the delicious and interesting selections we offer.

While a little more expensive than I remembered, the steaks were good and had a great flavor. Sweet potato was done perfectly as was the asparagus. The pumpernickel bread was warm and soft. Service also very good, and employees all were attentive and friendly. Downside is the parking lot. Not very big and difficult to maneuver.
