I had an appointment at the Social Security office in Neptune, so I decided to go to here for lunch. It was crowded, so I sat at the bar, which entitled me to order a bar pie (which I had with mushrooms). If you like thin crust pizza (to my mind, the best kind), you'll love it here.

Lubrano's Trattoria

Reviewed By W8LT3R

This place is a hidden gem. Located in a strip mall anchored by a Shop rite supermarket just off Route 34 South in Manasquan. They offer great food and great service in a causal, family dining atmosphere, with an upscale menu and decor. This was our first visit to Lubrano’s Trattoria and we were very impressed. My wife was given a gift card for a meal at Lubrano’s so we decided to use it on a lazy Sunday evening. We arrived at 5PM to a nearly full parking lot but did manage to find an open parking spot close to the restaurant – one of a few spots that night. As we approached the restaurant there were some nice patio furniture – chairs and tables for two with umbrellas - on the sidewalk outside the entrance. The interior of the restaurant was divided into two sections. You enter the restaurant into the smaller section in the front which is a takeout pizzeria that does a brisk business. As we entered, a man at the counter, asked “To pick up or place an order?”. When we said we were there for the restaurant he told us we had 30 min wait. So, we gave him our names and sat on the patio furniture just outside the door. Then our waitress came out to get us after just a 10 mins. She led us into the back section of the restaurant which was a much larger, upscale dining room with dark, wooden tables and chairs and a wall of red brick with the name Lubrano’s stenciled across it. Tables were arranged in rows to accommodate small and large groups. Our waitress took us to a private table for 4 against the red brick wall. The noise level of the dining room was medium –there was significant background noise, but not so much that you could not carry on a conversation without shouting. At the start of our meal, our waitress brought us to a plate of pesto to share – that goes with the olive oil that was already on the table - and a basket of toasted, warm French bread to dip in it. The soft bread with the toasted crust dipped in the oil and pesto was delicious. To drink we both ordered the unsweetened, blueberry flavored lemonade we saw someone else drinking at another table. Drinks were served in large plastic cups with straws - which was convenient. Because of their size we did not finish our drinks in the restaurant and took them home with us - cups and all - along with doggy bags of our food at the end of the meal. For entree's, Lubrano’s offers an extensive menu of Italian dishes that goes beyond the standard pizzeria offerings of Lasagna, Meat Balls and Spaghetti, Eggplant Parmesan, etc. The menu even had a section for those who want to eat a low carb meal. I ordered the spicy, garlicky salmon with mash potatoes which was listed as a customer favorite on the low carb menu – you can skip the mash potatoes if you really want this meal to be low carb. My wife ordered the shrimp risotto. My salmon filled a large plate and the mash potatoes were artfully sculpted to look like a white pineapple with green leaves sticking out of the top as a garnish, and it was covered with garlic cloves and red sauce. My wife’s meal was equally as large with lots of shrimp over a bed of rice. Both meals were huge and delicious. The price for entrees here can run you from $15 to $35 but you get a lot of food for your money. For casual dining the presentation and the food here were more like a fine dining experience, only with a lot more food than you typically get at fine dining restaurants for the price. After eating two thirds of our meal we were stuffed and did not have room for dessert.

I’m not sure what’s going on here, however the old Delvetto’s was very good then it started to slide downhill, now it’s coming back up. Maybe they changed chefs maybe they hired some different people but the restaurant is getting better. For whatever the reason I’m happy this neighborhood Italian restaurant is still here and functioning.

Visited December 23. Only 3 tables total at time. Person seating people was watching football. Was told by patron at bar we were waiting. Told us to seat ourselves while she gets menus. Waitress showed up at table about 10 minutes later. Extremely slow service. Ordered a martini. Charged $19. Glass slivers were on rim of glass. Not even an apology. Food was ordered. Appetizer flatbread was very good. Meals left alot to be desired. Penne with bolognese sauce was a barely warm pink sauce. Tasted like vodka sauce with meat tossed in. Sprite was just seltzer. Had to request new. Again waited a very long time for waitress to bring anything requested. She was busy talking to other staff. Sent 6 year over to her to give her our payment since we were waiting again. Hate to see service with a crowd if it was this bad with no one there. I would not recommend this place.

While the food was good, the honey mustard dressing for my salad was the WORST I have ever had....they used a hot spicy mustard that made the whole salad hot.....the service was just average, and it was a Wednesday evening and the place was not crowded, but it was very noisy.

Bruno's opened in Farmingdale a few years ago. They have a nice set up inside and a good menu for lunch sandwiches. They have a monster size pizza called the 'Goliath' which is a decent price and good for a bunch of kids when double sliced. But the taste is just ok. The size and price are what make it a deal. Free refills at the soda fountain are a plus. Charging for the marinara sauce to go with the Garlic knots is not a good deal. Throw it in with the knots. It's minimal cost and good customer service. Besides, the sauce is only average. Overall a good spot but the pizza and sauce is better at Tony's across the street. But, this is a good spot for a quick lunch.

This is your basic Italian restaurant/pizzeria.. except for the special soups! You can get all the usual fare, the pastas, the chicken and veal and fish dishes. And they're all fine. So is the pizza. But a couple of times a week, the chef whips up one of his special soups. Cream of carrot, Tuscan vegetable soups, even Italian wedding. Those soups are incredible -- and often the reason we go there. Oh, the pizza is pretty good too.

Pizza good but on the smaller than previous times. Chicken meals served with a side of pasta were all good. They’ve still got one of the best sauces anywhere. Pleasant service and prices were ok.

Mulligan's Bar and Grill

Reviewed By theschnoz

My boss required that I take a trip into Farmingdale for some business. I went late in the afternoon and by the time I got done it was dinner time. I rode through town to see what was open looking for a diner or some place small but a lot were closed already. I kept riding through the town and came across Mulligan's Restaurant and Grill...a golf themed restaurant. I walked in around 5 p.m. and there were a few locals in there.I sat at the bar and was waited on by a very friendly barmaid. It was still happy hour so the waitress gave me the happy hour menu to check out. There were quite a few items that were either 5 or 6 dollars so I picked boom boom shrimp without the sauce and a personal bar pizza with sausage that was an extra charge. My shrimp and pizza came pretty fast and was very hot. The shrimp came with the sauce anyway and I found to be a little fishy but I still ate quite a few. The pizza is handmade right in the restaurant. It came with crumbled sausage on top. They had quality ingredients on the pizza. As I sat there devouring my food I watched as people filed in and quickly filled the place. Some came in large groups and sat at tables and lots came and sat at the bar. I found it there was a great camaraderie in the bar. Everybody seem to know each other and the staff was very familiar with everyone so it made for a friendly setting. By 5:40 I left so that tells you how fast I got my food and how fast the place filled up.I found out what a name like Mulligan's they did have some Irish selections so I will probably be back to try those a different time.
