My friend and I tried to come here twice on a Thursday night. Luckily the second time we tried we got in here. I had the chicken milanese cutlet with mozzarella in a sandwich and it was a delight. It was big enough that I had the leftover for lunch the next day.

This was one of the few places open on Sun night while traveling along I-78. We were unable to load the menu from their website on our iPhones from the highway to check it out beforehand but we had already exited and it was getting late - after several minutes we realized their menu page is blank. 1 of us ordered a panini which was brought to our table on a ceramic dish. 3 of us ordered pizza - each slice brought on paper plates and personal pie was brought out on the aluminum pan it was cooked on. The utensils were cheap quality so I struggled cutting the pie on the pan. The eggplant topping was sparse and paper thin. I thought the pizza tasted the same as 100s of other pizzerias, so there was nothing that impressed us. Pizza was ok. The staff seemed to be typical for NJ.

Last Saturday I had the lollypop land chops entree which was one of the specials, and the calamari appetizer. They were both really excellent! Very delicious! The lamb was perfectly cooked. The calamari's texture was close to perfect and tasted fabulous. I would definitely return to Monica's. I had their food once before with take out service when I was in the area a few months ago. If you like Italian food Monica's is exceptional. I took a friend there for his birthday and we had a very good time. Our waitress was very friendly, personable, and the service great. The atmosphere was not too formal, which gave us a nice comfortable atmosphere to relax and enjoy ourselves. Monica's offers excellent food in a very nice atmosphere, and it is my favorite restaurant in the Pompton Lakes area.

The restaurant is elegant Mediterranean architecture style, inside and out. The food is delicious, service was okay. We were ten people, five couples, we had a good time, just the waiter forgot our appetizers. Other than that, I would give it 4 stars out of 5. Everybody has an off night once in a while. Service needs to be better, our waiter also forgot a few glasses of wine we ordered. I worked in the restaurant business for 10 years in NYC. If you have good food and great service, people will always come back. Just giving advice, that I hope the owner reads.

I attended a catered event for a family gathering. The private room was beautiful and intimate. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive to our wants and needs. The kitchen accommodated my dietary needs. The food was very good. The cannolis are to die for! We had a great time together as a family and the atmosphere and the food were perfect!
Our friends and my wife and I dined at Luca this past Saturday and had a delicious dinner. At Luca you can order a pizza or have a full Italian meal in a casual, cozy and relaxed atmosphere with white tablecloths and linen napkins. Luca should not be categorized as a pizzeria, but rather a nice Italian trattoria. Luca is a byob restaurant. We began with appetizers of stuffed mushrooms and calamari in a lemon and white wine sauce. Both were very good. The calamari was tender and the sauce perfectly complimented the dish. Entrees were veal parmigiana, veal francese, veal with sundried tomatoes in a cognac sauce and a rolled veal stuffed with prosciutto and cheese in a sherry sauce. All were accompanied with a salad and a side of pasta. Portions were very generous. Everyone thought their meal was delicious. We will all definitely return.

I was doing some spontaneous shopping in this strip mall today when we noticed Franks and decided to drop in quickly to grab a slice of pizza. The selection of cooked pizzas behind the counter was enormous; maybe 15 different kinds, including a bruschetta one, the usual sausage and peppers, a mushroom and broccoli rabe, and one with pasta on it. plus calzones and arancini. My father and I chose a slice each, and waited a few minutes for them to be reheated in the huge pizza oven. In that time there was a steady flow of take-out customers but the girl serving handled all efficiently. When we received our food we took a table in the very large dining area and realised too late that there was waitress service in that side but no one complained. It was clean and spacious, if a bit old fashioned. The menu looked large and inviting. The pizzas we had, white pizza with mozzarella and ricotta, and another the same but with garlic spinach on it, were excellent. Really crunchy, tasty crust, not oily. I will go back to eat a meal there with the family soon.

I'll agree that staff are incredibly friendly and I appreciate that but the food? Not so great, at least what we had....if I were to go back would like to check out their traditional Italian dishes. The complimentary bruschetta, salami, cheese and olives were good although the bread was chewy and tasted old or had been sitting for some time with the bruschetta mixture on it. Kudos to the bruschetta which had higher quality tomatoes and great flavor. The complimentary salad was fresh and well dressed. My "wild" salmon was not so "wild" I believe and may have also been previously frozen. I am very fussy about fish I eat and do not eat anything farmed and there is a huge taste difference. This was not wild. My husband's PEI mussels tasted off, also. Portions were huge, but I would much rather have less and higher quality and taste. The side of escarole was ok, nothing to speak of really.Overall our first trip here was a disappointment. If we return will go for more traditional and see how that goes.

We recently met some friends here for a mid-week dinner. The place feels like you're arriving at somebody's house and has a little old-timey truck cutely situated out it front. Inside the decor is muted and sophisticated with lots of dove gray and creamy white colors, punctuated by amber glass ceiling fixtures that looked to me to be Venetian. This is a white tablecloth restaurant that has enough formality to make it feel special yet has friendly service so that it still feels easy-going.Our waiter was attentive and had good timing, plus he seemed enthusiastic about the place, especially in his descriptions of the night's specials. I should mention here that this restaurant has a full bar, so no need to BYOB as one must in so many restaurants in our area. I had a lovely glass of Pinot Noir and others at our table seemed happy with their wine as well. The food here surprised us in a great way, although now that I've read that the executive chef is from Naples, Italy, we should not have been surprised! I loved my special burrata salad and the fettuccine with a mushroom sauce. Everyone else loved their meals as well. The only disappointment surrounded my vanilla gelato. First, uncharacteristic for the rest of the evening, everyone's desserts were delivered except for mine. Then when I got the waiter's attention and he saw to it that my dessert was brought out, the gelato really tasted like grocery store vanilla ice cream. Outside of this gelato disappointment, the rest of the entire experience was terrific and we look forward to returning here soon.

This is a return visit. Enjoyed our dinner at Cafe L'Amore. We chose Melanzane (eggplant) alla Parmigiana, thin Fettuccine alle Vongole (fresh clams), and a fish of the day.Friendly, attentive service. Lots of families dining out on this early Saturday evening, easily accommodated by calling ahead. Good value overall.Cafe L'Amore is BYOB without corkage fee. Most diners brought wine.Ongoing Gripe: As someone who prefers not to use valet parking, parking is tight and too small for a restaurant this size. Limited parking is reserved for valet.
