Massimoâs is at the top of our list of restaurants in Portsmouth, and thatâs saying something, given the many, many restaurants in the area.Massimo, the owner, is a gracious host and his staff is well prepared to offer assistance and advice. The menu offers an impressive range of dishes and changes regularly enough to avoid becoming stale. Every dish that we have tried over five or six visits has been exceptional.

So came in for dinner after a 5.5 hour ride from NJ..sat at the bar...bartender was very nice..but she seemed to be flustered due to traffic in bar area and sitting area, but was being asked if she needed help the entire time...a older man came to bar and she told him she couldnt service him because she was tooo busy...eventually a girl came out and said she would service them and they could sit down...so very weird dynamic was going on...but I didnt seem to find it too busy....order was taken quickly..my cuppa Tuscana soup was a tad on the warm side but I was so hungry I ate it...didnt order another bowl, I tried a new meal there chicken with aloe tomato and cheese and it was delicious with a Side of mash....love this chain options are always great..just found the service dynamic even though it didnt affect me a little weird that night

This restaurant's staff worked like a well-oiled machine. We found the restaurant a little too noisy....which is unusual for us to comment on. The food was average for an Italian restaurant. We probably won't return in light of all the great restaurants in this area.

The food was very well prepared, cooked excellent, very tasty and large potions. Drinks and wine list are very solid. The desserts here are great and many options...I wished I could have tried one forkful of everything! Atmosphere is lively, maybe slightly noisy at times, but overall fun. Service was great.

My boyfriend and I visited on a busy Friday night, and we were treated to a truly wonderful meal. From our starters to our mains, everything was great. Service was friendly and helpful, so no complaints there! Their scallop crudo was one of the best things I've ever ate. My boyfriend loved his spaghetti and meatballs (their red sauce is superb, and from someone who grew up on sauce heavy Italian food, I never had a red sauce taste like the one Festina Lente makes before).
