Glarner Stube met and exceeded our expectations. The dining room is quaint and the decorations were fun to take in. The menu offers entrees, salads and sandwiches. We went with the bratwurst sandwich and grilled pork tenderloin sandwich, both were served with your choice of side. We had the Roseti which was big enough to share. Pork tenderloin was nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. Waitress was friendly and packed our leftover Rosti for us in a package that would fit nicely in our cooler, simple but kind gesture. They serve New Glarus on tap and if you do the brewery tour you get a token for a free small New Glarus beer to be redeemed here.

I have visited the Fat Cat Coffee Works 8 or 9 times in the past couple years, including 3 times in the past week. Great place - needs to be reviewed!
Though our B&B provided breakfast, we wanted to try out this new place--at least new to us since our previous visit. From the moment I walked in and saw the ban on cell phones, I LOVED this place. Great small batch coffee, roasted right down the road in Madison, lays the foundation for a great place, as do cookies the size of your fist and daily pies and a great selection of breakfast sandwiches. They even include oatmeal and yogurt parfait for the more healthy-minded diners.
We loved the eclectic table seatings and went upstairs to a neat alcove where we could wind up a really fun New Glarus trip. The waitstaff at Fat Cat Coffee knocked themselves out being professional and courteous and friendly.
I am so excited that there's a happening place like Fat Cat, where I can get that oft-needed jolt of caffeine and a "clean, well-lit place." As a writer, I see this is the kind of hangout where ideas flow.
Great place. Visit today.

Forget all those grocery store bakeries and get to this bakery on First Street in New Glarus---not a large place, stocked with display cases of amazing breads (we bought the Swiss, Egg Braid and Apple Loaf) cookies (rum balls and all sorts of butter cookies), donuts (try the turtle!) Morning Buns, and the famous chocolate oat bars!!! (I loved those!!!) Get there early because the items go fast! Reasonable prices.

It seems the owners responses get rude and testy if you give a less than stellar review. A good restaurant owner should be able to accept constructive criticism and not get so defensive. That said, here goes.....
Pizza is better than Ticinos which isn't saying much. Granted we're spoiled being used to great Chicago pizza though I suppose for the area it's probably the best available. The wait was long and service was spotty. Won't be back.

We stopped at Kennedy's on our way home from hiking. The employees were all very friendly and welcoming. My husband liked his black bean burger, our son enjoyed his kid's meal of a grilled cheese on goldfish-shaped bread, and my chicken salad sandwich was good too! We ate inside at the counter, but there was also seating outside and even a patio on the roof. After we ate dinner, we ordered ice cream and took it to one of the outdoor tables to enjoy the sites. Thanks for a great meal!

Enjoyed the ham sandwich, blt, and pickled veggies (pickled strawberries were amazing!). Staff is so friendly and everything is cooked right in front of you! Don't miss this great modern/local treasure on your next trip to new glarus!

On our trip to Madison Wisconsin we decided on the way home we wanted to eat again in the Swiss town of New Glarus. We have not eaten in this restaurant in a while and wanted the taste and feel of Europe in Wisconsin. You won't be disappointed with anything in this Hotel Restaurant.

We have had a great 4 years and are looking forward to many more to come. We serve a varied menu ranging from burgers, sandwiches, salads for lunch. Steaks, Seafood and other items for dinner all with a mexican flair. We have a full bar and serve New Glarus Brewing Beers on draft, margaritas with fresh lime juice and your favorite cocktails.
We stopped for lunch on our tour through SW Wisconsin. Our first choice was closed so we gave Kristi's a try. It's a very cute Victorian style house on the hill with a nice balcony for outdoor setting. Beers and lemonade were very good. We had the Portabella Sandwich and the Crabcake sandwich, one with cole slaw the other with fries. Service was prompt and pleasant. It was a great way to spend a leisurely lunch. Definitely would come back.

We came here a couple times during our trip to New Glarus. The outdoor patio is great! Extensive beer menu and very cheap mixed drinks....an old fashioned is like $4....food is decent, good wait staff and reasonable prices. I would come back! Thanks for the positive review. We'd love to know how to get that 5th star, short of becoming a Cubs fan. :)
